Stole this from HF...
He is a very tall center that has good vision and hands (especially in tight) but needs to improve his shot and goal scoring in general. He has displayed somewhat of an excessive pass first mentality in some of the games that I have seen of him. His skating is also a bit awkward which certainly has to do with his size. I think his stats in the last couple of years have been a bit deflated due to growth spurts (which probably contributed to the skating issues), the conversion from LW to Center, and some bad junior teams he has played on. Despite those factors he was a fairly consistent scorer on the Swiss U17 team this year and didn't look out of place on the international level, even against good nations. It will be interesting to see if he decides to go to Sweden or Canada next season.

Safe to assume the team is confident that he'll come seeing as how they released Simek and only made the one pick?

Rimouski picked Simek in the 2nd round.

Wow Did SJ try to move him and nobody wanted him at asking price or did Simek just ask to be released and had something in the works? I guess either way if SJ had no plans for him or he did not want to come back it worked out for someone

He expressed an interest in going home but will likely report to Rimouski given that they are Memorial Cup hosts.

No one panic. I heard the Rozzi rumour is false. Expect the news next week.

No one panic. I heard the Rozzi rumour is false. Expect the news next week. It very could be. Also, the way that SJ has been run the last few years, there was probably an expectation that Rozzi would go to Youngstown for that camp. Playing in the USHL doesn't make it impossible to play in the Q, it just muddies the path a little, but Cam MacDonald did it. Rozzi has plenty of options available to him and he will pick what is best for him. FWIW, Youngstown has been poaching top talent from the Q and their NHL draft record with those players isn't as good as it should be.

Making a handful of assumptions (Rozzi signs, SJ acquires an OA, Mateiko is traded for picks before the season, and the Janulis brothers both come and stick), we could line up something like:
Miller - OA - Peddle Schenk - Groulx - Beveridge Rozzi - Yared - Reynolds Calder/Beaulieu/Beaudry - Janulis - Calder/Beaulieu/Beaudry
When guys like Daley, Krayer, Benoit or even an invite could take those spots.
On D,
that would leave:
Tivey - Mann Amyot - Duhamel Maclean - Janulis Scanzano/Henry/Bonnet/invite
(where Chartrand would be the 2nd RD and bump everyone down if he came)
Robinson Girard/Doyon-Cataquiz/invite

No one panic. I heard the Rozzi rumour is false. Expect the news next week. Please understand that all 1st rounder (top 15 I would say) that haven't yet signed are just playing the game of how much they can get $$ from their respective teams. The longer they wait with saying " I am not sure I will come yet, I have offers from the NCAA". This year 1st pick strategically did not go to the Q cup knowing that it would put pressure on teams to make "interesting" offers for him to stay. Lions 2007 goalie "changed" his mind and will play with Rimouski. I am pretty sure that Rimouski had to be at par with whatever he would of got on his ride in the NCAA. Maybe I am way off, but that goalie is also from the Lions (they all played together this season) so there is a good chance either one of our lions was "motivated" by the goalie's outcome. I could be wrong!! But sure a strange coincidence.

It is a well-off bilingual suburb of Montreal, with a coach who actively advocates that all of his players keep their options open.

I totally understand kids wanting to keep their options open and get what is best for them. SJ needs these kids to come or it might be a long season. I think it will be long no matter what but seeing the 16yr olds play might make it easier.
