I'll be surprised and disappointed if they use a 20 year old spot on a goalie next year. I'm pretty sure the plan is for Robinson to be the #1 guy next year. He'll have a much better chance at success with three 20s playing in front of him than two 20s and one on the bench. Yes sorry I agree I feel they need a solid back up so Robinson has all the pressure on him as this time next year will not be very good.

SJ appears to be playoff bound.
The Gatineau pick is in the lottery (5) and BLB's is 8.

Important piece for next year and the following years - with Shawinigan winning tonight, that locks Gatineau in to 14th place. As the Sea Dogs have the Gatineau first round pick, they will have a 5% chance of getting first overall.
Last time the Sea Dogs had a 5% chance of getting first overall, they wound up winning the draft lottery, in 2019.

Will this be the first time playing Drummondville in the playoffs? I can't remember another time. I can't imagine it will be very pretty. Peddle outperforming Reinhart might be the best thing we can realistically hope for.

Yeah Robinson has looked every bit as good as Auger or D'Orio at 17. He just didn't have a President's Cup championship team in front of him like they did.

I think it’s fairly certain Mateiko will get moved - probably at the draft as he has too high a value for SJ to wait till Christmas where he maybe has a lower production due to a poor team and decrease a return
I also wouldn’t be surprised if they get some calls on Peddle. He seems to have found a touch and I think you guys could get a decent return for him on a team that may want a depth scoring touch
Unfortunately not much else of value on the roster - I had heard SJ was in the mix to re acquire the 1st rounder from Cape but that was over a month ago
3 high end first round picks would be a heck of a starting point to rebuild, just ask chicoutimi 😂

The Miller trade ended up being spectacular for the Dogs. Coen ended the season on a 5 game point streak and looks like he's the 1st line center next year.
I have concerns about the way Groulx is being used (giving me heavy Steven Anthony vibes), but the eye test tells me that he's doing well (and should arguably be playing top 9 already).
Peddle and Miller seem to have chemistry and adding Beveridge to them seems like a good way to have a decent top line (for a non-contender).
One of Mateiko or Simek should be back (no reason to make 2 picks, but I believe that using 7 makes sense), plus Groulx makes sense, I figure that SJ will add an OA (like Perron in RN or Auger in Moncton). On top of that, the picks could get us a couple of players with top 9 potential.
I'm not sure what Reynolds' potential is, but he could be a top 9 guy or could be a 4th liner that could play up. On top of that, Daley looked like he could have decent potential if he wants to come back. Add another import and you have a handful of guys that could play top 9 role with extras who can move up or down depending on how they do.

Some intriguing names for the picks include Tynan Lawrence (Josh's brother who is tendered to Muskegon in the USHL), Yared, Plouffe, L'Italien, Cossette-Ayotte, a couple of SJ kids in Rogerson Murphy and a few kids playing in Ontario in Chartrand, Dagenais (son of Pierre) and Venne.
Note: I'm not a scout and definitely won't suggest anything, but Lawrence is considered the best player in the draft (though again, he might not have any interest in the Q) and Rozzi is expected to go south.

I would love to see the dogs take a few more Atlantic kids this year. I may be wrong but it seems to mostly have been Quebec kids the last few years. There is lots of great depth in this draft for Atlantic kids this year I think.
I do know you have to take the best available but it might help with some more localish kids to put butts in seats too down the road.

Yes getting local kids is always good for getting seats in the stand but it also puts more pressure on the kid to perform in front of their home crowd each game. I am believe get the best pic available and if he is local great!
Looking at the upcoming season Robinson should be the starter. Do we have a back up in the system ready to play in the Q?
On D what will we look like. We have a mix of older and younger guys who could all be back next year.
Up front how young do we go and allow us to develop kids and also be able to compete at this level?

Doyon-Cataquiz also has pretty good potential but he was hard NCAA last year. On D, we should be able to return two OA (assuming we don't have an OA in net). After that, we'll have Bilodeau, Amyot, MacLean, Duhamel and Richard all locked into spots. Up front, I don't think we go young. Add an OA who can play top 9, have two imports (regardless of how that shakes out). Our youth is a combination of studs and fringe players IMO, where we've given a ton of opportunities to the fringe players (who are not key players on next year's team unless they improve quite a bit). This is the point where potential and ability become important. Either guys take the next step or they lose ice time, because a bunch of highly drafted 16s aren't losing ice time.

Forwards I am really interested in seeing what happens depending on draft. SJ has some high draft picks and I would expect them to be in the line up. Depending on what they draft are they looking to add high picks up front or on D? I expect there will be movement before draft as well.

After watching the playoff games I think the team has made a decision already on a few guys that won’t be back next year.
