I agree there could be a d spot up for grabs. Bildedeau COULD be traded but he may just be worth more to the team this year vs what he would actually command in a trade so I think he stays. Amyot and Duhamel stay, likely Maclean too. I have to think AT LEAST one of the 3 OAs on d will be gone. No way we use up all 3 OA spots on the back end. Not sure what we would get for Mann or Ianello as 20s. But Mann could be gone to the ECHL which would be better suited to him. If Tivey puts up decent numbers the first half he could easily be traded at Christmas as he won’t have a no-trade this year which he has had the past 2 seasons. If this free agent or any other 17 yr old coming in is offensive he could be fighting for Ianello’s spot (unfortunately because I do like Ianello) but at 17 yrs old chances are youth wins out. It’s a Rebuild. I actually expect some significant movement in the back end which ain’t a bad thing, as it sits now the d is just way too old. The forward lineup on the other hand looks to shaping up very nicely. Very young, some big signings and although Mateko will certainly be traded at Christmas (and Peddle ?) but this f group will be very exciting to watch develop over the next few seasons.

On D, I expect 2 OA, Bilodeau, Amyot as the top 4. If the Dogs are truly committed to winning with 07s and 08s, then expect one or two 08s, Duhamel and then possibly an 07 or two. The problem with MacLean is that if he is top 6, he's taking ice time from younger guys.

I would not be surprised to see Bilodeau moved. Maclean is 18 but also gives the team a defensive D as most of the guys like to jump into the play. Tivey will probably still be her after Xmas. Amyot and Duhamel are for sure. I would not be surprised if Ianniello is released.

I didn't make it last night, but sounded like a good scrimmage.
I am not an expert (not even good at projecting, but I do enjoy trying) but the shell of my lineups has been:
Peddle - Miller (played well down the stretch and in playoffs) Mateiko - Beveridge (big and little, Egan did well last year and with any real improvement is a big part of our top 6) Rozzi - Yared (normally you don't put 16s together, but they've played together for years, Yared is already big enough that they won't be useless defensively, and they want this, so I see it happening until there is a reason for it not to).
Everything else is gaps. My lineups are based on what guys did last year, what role they'd fit, etc, but that ignores that year over year development could be dramatic for a player or two which could completely change this.

Was a good scrimmage. Teams played two 25 minute halves. Tivey, Mateiko, Mann, Peddle, and Robinson didn’t dress. I didn’t see Beveridge there. Heard Benoit didn’t come to camp (no idea if true). No one stood out though Miller and Beaulieu played well (Miller has a shoot first mentality so lots of chances and Beaulieu was yapping at team mates and getting into it with Duhamel). Calder looked a step behind. Beaudry has an extra gear. Expected Ianniello and Bilodeau to dominate with their experience against camp invites but they didn’t. Campbell looked ready to play at this level. Chery has wheels. Girard was solid in net handling a lot of good chances. Don’t see Lavalee being an OA in Q. Yared and Rozzi showed potential but will need to get used to this level of play. Neat to see Drew Elliott was bench coach for Team blue. Team white won.

That's 3 picks signed and likely 3 16s for the year.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to get to training camp to offer any form of assessment. But I agree with Briwhel on projected pairings. Here are my thoughts on potential lines - based on the current roster - Forwards; Peddle - Miller - Schenk Mateiko - Groulx - Beveridge Rozzi - Yared - Overager (TBD) Reynolds - Dube - Beaulieu + 2 other forwards On defense; Tivey - Duhamel Bilodeau - Mann Amyot - Scanzano Bonnet - McLean Regarding an Overager forward, Sam Oliver or Leighton Carruthers both have ties to Saint John and the Sea Dogs ... and could be available in the right deal.

I thought Ruggiero made some nice saves in the first part of the game this morning. Seemed to control the puck well and had good movement throughout the crease.

Not saying he would not have made it, we rarely see signatures for 2nd rounders with any teams this early in the process. But does already send the message that some will be moved. Is tonight game on Facebook like everybody else in the league?

Likely not showing the intrasquad game on Facebook. The only games on Facebook I have seen so far are pre-season from some of the teams.

Who knows if he'd have a better NCAA offer if we waited. On top of that, SJ was obviously very high on him. He's likely one of the three 16s that Stella talked about right after the draft.

Plus they just announced the signing of his 2 buddies. They want him and his family to feel like he is just as important. It's also possible (albeit unlikely) they promised one or both of the other 2 that they'd be signing him immediately as well.

Did anyone go to the games yesterday? How are they looking any surprises?
