Quick notes on the 9:
Bourque, Chery- later round drafted 16s. Imo, letting these guys go at 48 hours is good practice (so that you arent completely removing NCAA for a kid who isn't making the team).
Henry - everything i read about Henry suggested that he could potentially make it at 16.
Lumsden - the idea of a free agent staying 48 stings, but he's obviously got options.
Arnold - as a 19D, he was in tough. He likely would likely have to be top 4.
Battaglia - didn't see camp so cannot comment
Daley - refused a rotation spot last year and that was likely what was available so he left
Janulisx2 - young Americans, I cant comment on their game, but preserving NCAA isn't a surprise

Nice seeing the 3 2008 SW NB kids take the opening faceoff for the Islanders against their hometown team. Big thrill for them I'm sure

Best players for SJ imo were:
Miller - best player in the game by a large margin. He was doing everything at a higher level. This might be an early preseason effect (in which case it can't hurt his confidence to do so well) or this could be a precursor to Miller having a huge year.
Girard - he was extremely quiet in net. Rebound control was awesome. This was a great first game for him.
Bilodeau - 19 year-old top 4 D played like a 19 year-old top 4 D. Because of the lineups, he skewed the ice pretty badly making it harder to evaluate some of the other players on the ice when he was out there.

Totally agree with you Girard looked very calm and in control Miller I just hope he can continue like this in the regular season with a regular lineup on the other team. Bilodeau Im convinced will have a great first half of the season and we will more likely lose him at Christmas. On the negative side I can’t see keeping Scanzano would be beneficial to his game, very slow foot speed needs to get more ice time and I can’t see him having more minutes then Duhamel, Amyot and Maclean Best players for SJ imo were: Miller - best player in the game by a large margin. When will the next round of cuts be? I wonder what they are thinking for D as they are sitting with 3 20’s which seems strange to have them all on a team. I watched the game online last night and it is hard to say but I agree Scanzano foot speed is not great. I hope he is ok as I did not see him play in the 3rd.Bilodeau looked good but that should be expected considering what he was playing against. Maclean looked solid and Bonnet looks good not 100% sure on his decisions but that will come. I liked Miller upfront. Allen looked like he was trying to do to much.

From the Sea Dogs: The Saint John Sea Dogs have reassigned five players from the Training Camp roster, the team announced today.
Forwards Alexis Beaudoin, Brayden Campbell, Matthew Ferdinand, and Jonah Leard have been returned to their respective teams along with defenceman Arnaud Tardif. The moves bring the number of players on the roster down to 16 forwards, 10 defencemen, and five goaltenders.
