Hickey has great numbers as a 16 y/o in the CCHL.... and the CCHL is a great Jr. A league.
Hickey should be considered a guy who hopefully can step right into a job in the Q.
Bickle and Hickey should be our goaltending tandem this coming season.

frees up one Euro slot for sure
i still think Ozols can play in this league.... with our lack of draft picks I would not at all mind trading him to a team with a spot to compete for the net and perhaps a poor history of drafting euros
obviously wouldn't get much but at this stage a pick is a pick is a pick

Not really sure if this is the right spot to ask, but I'd love to know -- what happened to Swan? I noticed he spent a lot of time on your 4th line. That surprised me. I know he's had a tough go since the season after he got sent packing by the moose, but he never struck me as a 4th liner...
Was he just bad?

Great skilled player just looked like he didnt want to be in the Q

It lines up with his lack of hustle in his vists, but if there's one thing I could have told you about Swan it would have been that the guy was a workhorse. Now I'm really curious...

I’m not sure that I’d say his work effort was terrible. Maybe off the ice? I don’t know. I thought he was decent on the 4th line. Didn’t really bring much offensively, but he was defensively responsible for the most part. Certainly not what anyone would’ve expected after his rookie season with the Moose, but he was what you’d expect of a waiver pickup at the deadline.

Game 6 of the MHL final goes tonight in Miramichi, with the Miramichi Timberwolves currently leading the Summerside Capitals 3-2.
The Timberwolves have been getting great goaltending from Jack Flanagan all playoffs. The Caps had been using 20 y/o former WHLer Drew Sim as their starting goaltender, but in game 5 they were down 3-1 and they switched to Niko Boudreau and he got them the win in a 2OT game.
It is fantastic to see these Islanders prospects performing so well in the Jr. A final. I know the signing of Donald Hickey implies he is on the Islanders next year and indications seem that Carter Bickle has an inside track on a 20 y/o spot, but you can't go wrong with strong goaltending depth and consider all possible options.
Flanagan will be 19 next year and his best chance of being a major junior goaltender may have been his 17 y/o seaosn.....but you have to consider him and Boudreau as additional options between the pipes for 2024-25.

Ondrej Maruna is having a successful world U18 tournament with Team Slovakia. The Slovaks eliminated Czechia 3-2 and Ondrej scored two goals including the game winner.
Even after a full season, I forget that Maruna is a Slovak and not a Czech. I looked for him in the lineup at this tournament earlier, but I was looking at the Czechia roster.

Hearing through the grape vine as a moose fan , former moose forward 17 yr old Reese Peitzche may be heading to the islanders before the start of season lots of rumours around may just be that .

For sure Peitzche was a player the Islanders were after in a potential trade with Halifax involving Michael Horth going they direction. In the end, the Mooseheads opted for Lou-Felix Denis and Peitzche ended up in Shawinigan. Yea it's super weird because like, yea his first season he was promising, he was just behind Dumais and Vidicek in terms of points... but then he kinda fell off a cliff in terms of production.
