If his goal is to make the NHL, I don't know if he would be signing a 3 year contract at his age with the hopes of reaching the NHL after the contract. He isn't exactly a young spring chicken.

Just reading Ted Nolan’s book - he has nothing but positive comments for Irving and the Wildcats … talks quite a bit about how he loves Junior because as coach he can choose his own players as dual GM, unlike the pros where you coach what you are given … wonder if he would be up for one more go round? He is 66 now.

Well Irving did recently clear $250K off the books with the City of Moncton. Perhaps Gardiner was willing to coach Moncton since it's still close to home and he got a financial offer that was too good to pass up. Makes it even more interesting since he was giving Desnoyers so much ice time. Sure hope it's true. |

Makes it even more interesting since he was giving Desnoyers so much ice time. Sure hope it's true. Will be interesting to see what they do to get him help with the GM work. Having both titles is a huge job at the Q level. Most times when the WC had one guy do both, they had an assistant coach or asst GM who could take a lot of workload. Junior hockey is quite different from CIS but he's getting a team that is mostly ready to contend. If I'm the GM I add a D-man and draft an older(18-19 year old) Euro forward who can play top 6. |

It’s a bit of an odd response. You would think he would just say “ nah I’ll be back at UNB” or “I’m looking at all options” or something like that.
