I know it was mentioned in the other thread but this deserves its own.
Lacroix has officially been let go as everyone expected.
Anyone available that would be a good fit?
Edit:04/18/2024 - They are now also looking for a new GM.

I think the first call has to be to Gerard Gallant. See if he’s interested in coming to a team who should be primed for a big season.
He wants to go back to the NHL so it might be an attractive opportunity if he thinks he can get Moncton into the national spotlight. Although, maybe he just takes an assistant job in the NHL for this coming year.

Danny Flynn could be a good option.

Derek Cormier has done a great job with the Aigles Bleus - not sure if he would be willing to make the move to junior, but a really good new generation coach. His son being a current member of the Cats would complicate things, however.

Danny Flynn could be a good option. His time may have passed - but best coach in franchise history IMO (given that Nolan was only here for one season).

Derek doesn't seem like a very Irving type hire. He likes to make splash.

What about Brad Yetman - he seemed to have a fair bit of success in R-N ... I found it odd that they let him go at the time ...

My opinion is that you have to call him and make him say no. It likely all hinges on what he has available to him in the NHL. If he has an opportunity as an assistant in the NHL then I’m sure he’d take that over junior. If he doesn’t, I could see him being interested in it so that he isn’t out of hockey for 2 years. I think that even if they did get him, it’d be a 1 year hire like Nolan. I’d imagine that he’d use it as a springboard to get better opportunities in the NHL. I do fully expect Irving to try to go big with the hire so it will be interesting to hear some names.

What about Yves Sarault?
He's been coaching in Switzerland for a decade. He was relieved of his duties on January 10th from HC Sierre.
I can confirm he applied for the job when the Wildcats were looking for a head coach in 2013.

Could a certain guy in Fredericton be bought ? Throw enough $$$$$$$ at him .....hmm . The Irving's had to take notice of what he did in 5 Weeks in Saint John in delivering a Memorial Cup in Harbour Station .

I might be wrong but Gallant is still getting paid for another year the Rangers.
