Any news out of camp? Surprise no-shows? Anyone leave/cut yet? Standouts from inter squad games? Is there any media coverage at all? Hopefully they show up when the veterans come because it’s a bad look to list 5 or more guys on the camp roster and not have them show up. At least address it. I dont think anyone outside of the 1% of 1% of die hard fans really pay any attention to this stuff. At this point in the summer no ones thinking much about hockey. This camp is like 30 guys playing for 2-5 rosters spots (12th-14th fws and 7th-8th D). Once you start putting the roster on paper you'll realize pretty quickly why guys would probably hesitate to get put into games to protect their eligibility without any guaranteed spot. 'ore information is always better but I just dont think it matters one way or another if they update us or not, at least not to the point where I would say its a bad look. The level of information we get from the team is almost always going to be this way, and there's no reporter to make up the difference anymore. Your best bet is just to follow the Moncton Wildcast whos the only ones left covering the team. Steinman has played in front of sloppy defensive teams who allow a pile of shots for the last 2 season. Im not sold theres any reason to upgrade on him but they can certainly re-evaluate that mid-season.

That's a move you make at midseason. Plus, first you want to see what you have, in junior some kids will take pretty big steps from year to year. Warren is a big athletic kid, he could take a big leap from 18 to 19 and 1st to 2nd year.

Not worried about the lines on August 20th, just an exercise to show the depth chart and how this is the most uninteresting camp in recent memory. Will be a much different situation than last year as Gardiner will be determining lines and will have a different approach than Lacroix.

One question I was asking myself and other long time season ticket holders, if their plan is to host the MC in 3 years, does that mean you can't go all in on 24-25?
You can add 2-3 depth pieces but not trade away your top 5-6 young assets to add a couple of stars.
The core of your 2027-28 team will have to be 2007 and 2008 players who will be 16 and 17 this season. In order to be at a point to develop or trade for those players the next 2+ seasons, you can't be trading away all your guys drafted in 2023 and 2024 or Desnoyers Smith Grenier AFG rights. 1st rounders in 2026 and 2027 also.

I don't see them trying to host in 2028. My guess would be Gatineau ends up hosting.
2031 maybe, but assume Chicoutimi will have their building by then also.
I'm kind of over getting invested in them hosting, if it happens so be it. I just want a long playoff run and hopefully a championship in the new building, and winning a memorial cup in Rimouski would be icing on the cake. We are on year 6 of the new building and have gotten only a handful of decent playoff games to watch.

chl.ca/lhjmq-wildcats/article/training-camp-releases-announced/The following players have been released from the 2024 Moncton Wildcats Training Camp, presented by Moncton Kia: Jacoby Weiner (48 hours) Neka Jean (48 hours) Devin Niles (48 hours) Drew Keiver (48 hours) Louis-Phillipe Richard (48 hours) Xavier Trepanier Seems kind of harsh to single out Trepanier as the only cut and list everyone else as having left for NCAA reasons… Isn’t he Desnoyers’ step-brother? Apparently Mullen, Morais and Pelliteri all got injured before camp and that’s why they didn’t report.
