Well Auger will be around for a while. Loshing broke his foot over a month ago. Will miss NHL camp, unfortunate for him. I believe he has had or will need surgery. *correction* loshing has had surgery. Over a month until the regular season starts. Hopefully he doesn’t end up missing much time then. |

Losing Loshing for the first bit isnt ideal but this team has the back up wouldnt be worried. Gabe Smith is gonna be such a fun player to watch this year he will be a good player to move in and out of the top 6 when injuries or when players leave for the juniors

Wildcat fans have to be excited about the depth up front! Loshing, Desnoyers, Mercier, Sumpf, Lounsbury, Collard, Pekarcik, Vidichek, Smith are all capable of playing in the top 6 and producing. Not too many teams have that kind of depth and versatility in their top 3 lines.

Red and white rosters for the intra-squad games: x.com/monctonwildcats/status/1824769495472247294So did guys like Sinclair, Pelliteri, Thornborough, Mullen (x2), Hendry, Morais, etc. decide not to come at the last minute? Or were they allowed to skip the rookie camp? It’s not like they’re running full rosters for the red and white teams. |

If they could somehow get weiner to forego his Harvard commitment and play in the league next year, he’d probably be the best goalie to play here in a while, development isn’t always perfect however he has that potential. |

After day 1 of inter-squad games El Khouri was the most promising prospect. Elite skater with skill & speed and really was driving his line. He left the 2nd game with looked like a hip issue. Niles also had good speed but is a bit undersized for bottom 6 and not sure how he would fit into the roster. Robert and Schlender were noticeable and brought some energy and physical play, I could seem them competing for the last couple forward spots.
On D Batchilder and Lindsay looked solid and both Farrah & Weiner were excellent in shootout yesterday.
Really hard to tell with no vets in the line up yet. Would make sense to bring guys like Hackett, Mullin and Cormier come in a bit early and get into a game later this week especially where other teams already have vets in camp.

The rosters for the scrimmage tonight are up and Weiner, Turner and El Khouri are no longer listed. I assume Weiner left for NCAA reasons, but not sure about the others. Could just be injuries. I’m not as interested in this rookie camp as I have been in the past. It seems like a bunch of the interesting younger guys that the wildcats listed on their camp roster didn’t show up to the rookie camp (save a few) and there’s been nothing put out saying whether they’ll be reporting later. Hopefully they show up when the veterans come because it’s a bad look to list 5 or more guys on the camp roster and not have them show up. At least address it. |
