Anyone know when the wildcats training camp opens? I haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere and seems like other teams are announcing that now. Also, any word on free agents that they’re adding. I remember MacDougall mentioning in an interview with AN that they’d be adding some a while ago, but nothing really came from it (it was after they added the local and Quebec kids). I know that they don’t have much room on the roster so aren’t a desirable destination for free agents, but seems weird that they mentioned it and nothing has seemingly come from it. As per usual, the Wildcats are asleep at the wheel. Rookies report to Moncton on the 17th. You'll likely see some Red/White games on the 18th and 19th followed by the 1st preseason game on the 20th against Bathurst at the 4-Plex.

Wildcats have released their training camp roster. Did they forget about the acquisitions of MacKinnon and Vidicek?

View AttachmentDefinitely just completely forgot to add them considering they're both included in the graphic at the top of the article: chl.ca/lhjmq-wildcats/article/wildcats-announce-2024-2025-training-camp-roster/Moncton’s communication team can’t get a win on even basic things. Kind of surprised that Sinclair is reporting since he left last year after 48 hours. Also, surprised that Thornborough is coming up. He seems to be a higher end kid and just assumed it was a shot in the dark type pick. I suspect that he’ll leave after 48 hours but good to see him show some interest

I assume at some point they find a home for Auger, probably after other teams camps start to play out. He should be an offensive upgrade on a few lower end teams but I havent looked much into it.
I'm interested to see what shakes out with Pelliteri. There isn't much room on D but he brings a unique skill set in a go for it year. I liked Lindsay last year but it's gonna be tough for him to find a spot especially if Batchilder already locked up a spot. Id imagine a few of these guys get flipped for picks like with Dumais last year. There's really 1-2 D & about the same available at forward.

Loshing broke his foot over a month ago. Will miss NHL camp, unfortunate for him. I believe he has had or will need surgery.

I dont have an opinion either way having never watched him play, its just what was reported in the AN.

I’m not a big fan of having 16 year olds on the roster unless they will play every night. No way he regularly plays over the top 6 at this point. I’d rather he gets sent to AAA and gets a ton of ice time. From what I’ve heard, he’s an offensive defenseman. The points weren’t there for him last year so let him get back to that level and work in all situations. I’d rather the Cats keep a 17 or 18 year old for that 7th spot. Someone like Pelleteri, Lindsay, Dawe or even Hendry (free agent).

Looks like a couple of our guys shrank by an inch in the offseason. Must have gotten a new measuring tape
Morin 6' Steinman 5'11 Lindsay 6'1 Sumph 6'1 Loshing 5'9 Desnoyers 6'1
Also of note that Gabe Smith is 16 lbs lighter than he was at camp last season. I'm really curious how his skating will look.

Looks like MacKinnon and Vidicek have worked out whatever was causing them to not report. They have now been added to the training camp roster.
It looked like the Cats were going to get even less games than the last time they acquired 2 star players from Halifax.
