There is nothing that would have prevented players from leaving the USHL previously if they wanted to give up their eligibility so it's hard to imagine this holding up. Precedent has already been set. Holding players for ransom in a league where they don't get paid isn't a good look. Sounds like something that could end up in court and if it's anything like how the NCAA court cases have gone this won't end well for them. There is a USA Hockey/Hockey Canada/CHL agreement. While I don't think the amount is 50k, there are set player transfer fees that do need to be paid to the USHL club and the USHL club also has to release the player. According to the rumors going around, the agreement only explicitly states offseason transfers so while the USHL was playing ball before the announcement (Morin), they have supposedly reversed course since.

However as far as I can see, his only social is TikTok videos

I think that was more of a comment of his gameplay.. I was speaking of coming back from his illness. No, I'm not a Wildcats fan (actually I'm a Mooseheads fan; BTW; how are MacKinnon/Vidicek doing?), but I saw him play in Junior A in Yarmouth a couple of years ago. I hope he does well for the Wildcats.
