With a goal and an assist last night, Etienne Morin is now 2nd in franchise history in points by a defenseman. Currently has 159 in his career.
James Sanford is the record holder with 181.

Any updates on Cloutier ? I heard he's no longer around. His head wasn't in it anymore. We could see a waiver claim made or a free agent brought in to get to 13 forwards.

Any updates on Desnoyers? They should make a try with Pekarcik when he's gonna be back.

He took the warmup on Saturday so he’s gotta be close.

He took the warmup on Saturday so he’s gotta be close. These were the lines for the most part on Saturday night. A couple guys pulling double duty, but they looked very good. Loshing-Vidicek-Lounsbury (double shift) Cormier-Smith-Collard Pekarcik-Sumpf-Mercier Lounsbury & Cormier mostly doubled here with Sampson-Shantz When Desnoyers gets the clearance to play, where do you think he slots in? I'd like those lines to stick and simply add Desnoyers on the line that Cormier was double shifting on. Personally I think he'd fit perfectly with Smith-Desnoyers-Collard. That would give the Cats three potent lines that can do damage on any given shift.

Seems to be nice progression in the team between opening weekend and this past one, defensive play was much tighter ... very deep up front, top 9 can all strike fast - not one single top line, which will make it very hard for opponents to match up and try to shut down.
Gabe Smith is to me our most improved player by far - he is a beast out there, combo of size and speed that only a handful of guys in the league have. Most people had him projected as a solid third line shut down guy - to me he looks like a guy that could score 40 goals.
Thought Keegan Warren looked really good yesterday ... hopefully he earns a bit more playing time going forward. I have no problem with Steinman, but nice to have options if Warren can prove to be a 1A/1B calibre guy.

He got better as the season went on last year.

Cats looked super good this weekend. I was also impressed with Gabe Smith.
My god the reffing was brutal Sunday though. So many blatant missed calls, and i'm not one to complain about reffing very much.
What did you guys think of the third jerseys? I personally thought they had a good idea with them but it was poorly executed. Looked like a glorified practice jersey to me. A little trim on the bottom or even the word "Moncton" in the middle would've made it look much better. Gotta change the lettering as well as I found it hard to see which players were on the ice, even from 18 rows up.

His passing reminds me abit of Khovanov where he can find guys who you don't even see yourself are open, and in some cases players are almost not ready for his passes because they are so good. Hopefully as guys get more used to expecting that he will put up bigger point numbers. He also moves well through traffic generally with strong stick handling but has also found himself on the bad end of some open ice hits. His lack of ability to score seems to be his biggest weakness, not surprising when you look at his USHL numbers. This isn't a huge issue with our roster makeup, we already have guys like Vidicek, Collard, Loshing, Mercier, Sumph and even Smith this season who can put the puck in the net.

I agree moncton doesnt need him to score thats for sure. When he played in bathurst i thought his skating could use some work but not enough sample size to judge it. Thanks for the run down!

New jerseys look really sharp although I agree the #'s are a little hard to see and red numbers might allow fans to pick up players more easily.
The progression in this team is noticeable. Realistically there could be 8-10 guys exceeding 50 points and the 11 forwards we have are pretty interchangeable so offensive isn't a concern. Yesterday was the first day they iced a full line up, the power play is starting to click and the PK has been lights out. Gabe Smith looks like a different player and solidifies the top 9, Sampson and Cormier are more than capable logging more minutes as needed.
Great to see Warren have a good first start and Steinman has been very good to start the season. On the backend Simon Mullen has been a nice steady edition. Really like the heavy, shutdown pairing of MacKinnon and Johansson. Those two will not be easy for opponents to play against.
The next few weeks will be a good test with some miles on the bus and some strong opponents. Hopefully the team can continue to jell and stay healthy. Not sure what I would be tweaking at Christmas at this point beyond adding maybe another solid depth D with playoff experience?
