another solid effort, full value. Might not last, but I'm really liking this team right now.
Great hockey to watch.

What a great game and what a great team.
Oh also, Carrier needs to practice his empty net shots. 0/3. lol.

Nice of the Mooseheads for giving Patrick McNab the third star, he was throwing bodies around in the 2nd half, hes going to want that one chance though… Schultz gave him one wide open net.
Nasreddine is still adjusting but he looks solid.
Doyle is going to be a solid defencemen later on, he was struggling with his decision making at times.
Glad Levesque came back, crowd went silent thought maybe he broke something, looked like Carrier was shaken up after his goal, not sure what happened, the Athletic Therapist was checking on him on the bench. Then Walters took a tumble but he came back too.
Great group we have and Sprynar, Todd are still sidelined, Sprynars spot is a given but Todd’s going to have to earn his spot back with how these other guys are performing, especially Moser, Santini, Blake, McNab.

That was a really enjoyable night at the rink. Great atmosphere. The team as a whole is full of energy and a treat to watch. Keep that pace up and even the losses will be entertaining.
We can laugh at it now but had Quebec tied the game up Carrier would be having nightmares. Pressure is a great teacher.
Bring on that Cataford guy on Sunday.

Nice win. Halifax carried the play for the vast majority of that game. The whole team are just puck hounds. Such a difference from last season. And for young guys, they are strong on pucks too. They said they wanted to be hard to play against. Mission accomplished, so far.
I was shocked to see Levesque come back. That did look good. When he came back I thought he was going on adrenaline and didn't think he would stay in the game. But he did, and looked good.
For a bubble guy coming into the year, Moser has been a pleasant surprise. Nice quick release on his goal. He's got good size and if he keeps his game simple and uses his shot, he can be an effective depth guy.

My take. Best (fun) home opener ever and lots of new things.
Prefer the player intros be done the one at a time way. Sound isn't great in the building with a large crowd so the cheering drowns out the next guy. Slow it down. They deserve the more focused intro.
Not a fan of the giant Moose or to rephrase Moose is original but think it should be a thing for the start and end of game but not all through...the camera man spending way too much time putting the large Moose on screen. Takes focus off players.
Player take....wow Daniel Walters stands in front of the net in dirty area all game...all game. They punch him, they hit him, he stands there and really stirs the pot just positional.
I think as the season goes it will be scoring that is hardest to come by. They played great, got good zone time. They need scrap for goals. Good goalies will make it really hard. But love the zone control. Good PK as well!
If this is a rebuild...it is...and that's the attitude it's worth every $ + tax....

If this is a rebuild...it is...and that's the attitude it's worth every $ + tax.... Yea I agree with a lot of what you said. Moser, his strongest asset is his shot. Not only does he have a quick, hard and accurate release, but he understands the assignment - don't dust it off, don't play with it, just get the pick and shoot it. That's not an easy thing to adjust to but he's done a wonderful job. They're are other aspects of his game that are a bit lacking, which is definitely the reason he's on the bubble... But maybe under Lord he'll develop into a real strong option at 19 and 20. Walters is certainly old school. He does not play like 16 year old. He's as tough as a 2 dollar steak, as old J.R. used to say. He's going to be a lot of fun to watch, especially in a couple of years. I don't think this kid projects to be in the Q at 20. It's too early to project anything but you have to think NHL scouts are going to love his game. I am sad Jayden Rousseau didn't play. Considering he was picked right after Walters, it would have been interesting to see how they stack up so far. Also the empty net misses were kind of funny, but looking past that - Shawn Carrier is off to a hell of a start. He looks like a 6th overall pick (or better). That trade was a bit of a gamble based on his numbers from last year... But he's going to surpass his point and goal totals from last year inside the first 15 games at this rate. But on top of that - it's the way he does it. Yea there's still - but there's fire there to. His compete level reminds me of Zach L'Heureux. That combination of skill and will is so rare.

You must be thinking of Thomas Rousseau. Jayden Rousseau was drafted 24th overall.

Someone here mentioned pp. Question as we might be looking to move schultz why is he not on pp 1? Arguable best pp defensemen last 3 years. Want to get assets for him would that not help us for the future?

I really like the hypno moose. I think it's cool - lots of pro teams have lightning coils, fire, or smoke going off when they score. Not saying we're them, but it feels more premium to me and it looks sick.

Want to get assets for him would that not help us for the future? Schultz probably isn't going anywhere. The impression he's sort of given off (to me at least) is that he signed up for Halifax rather than the League. As an American, he probably doesn't want to play in Quebec unfortunately. The only reason he should be traded is if he can go win imo - and that leaves Moncton and Cape, who probably don't want him or what it would command in compensation for Halifax.

Want to get assets for him would that not help us for the future? He’s shown what he can do offensively over the last few years, think he was 3rd among D scoring last year, and teams are fully aware of how he could help. But teams haven’t seen what Martin is capable of offensively as he’s been buried in the lineup the last couple years. Being 19 and as good as he is, I think Martin is our most tradable vet and if he’s got 20ish points at Christmas that may be the case even more so. That said, at this point, I’m not sure how much of the PP decisions are being made with the trade period in mind.

I doubt Andrew Lord is sitting there thinking about the value he can get from his guys in a trade. He's thinking about the skill of a 17 year old Carlos Handel and how he can use and develop that so he's one of the most deadly PP quarterbacks in the league in 2 years.

Yea, I dont think they are thinking of trade bait when deciding on PP1 guys. Schultz has been solid over the years on PP1 but that is also with higher end talent like Dumais, Vidi and Cataford. We have skilled guys out there, but they are young and not quite the talent we had before.
With that said, and without looking it up because I am lazy, I assume Schultz on PP1 through preseason and start of regular season was coming up empty handed. Martin came in and had success instantly when Handel was out hurt for a game or two. Lord seems to be going with whatever seems to be working at the time. Midgley never would have mixed it up last year regardless of PP success or not!!! That is what Lord brings to the table. You perform, you play!!! Handel will be lethal in another year or two.
On another note, I am excited to see Cataford come back into the SBC tomorrow. I imagine this will be emotional for him. Wouldn't it be something if we could pull off a win against the Oceanic. Not that it matters but That would keep us in the top 10 CHL rankings for sure and have a lot of hockey minds scratching their heads on what the Mooseheads are pulling off!!! This team is operating on all cylinders!!! Fun to watch!!
