MacKinnon had his best game of the season last night and showed why he will be worth the price paid. You aren't going to find him on any highlight reels aside from hits but he was practically perfect defending every single rush that the Sags had, with perfectly executed poke checks while avoiding the dreaded hooking penalties getting puck first everytime.

They’re looking sluggish today 2nd period looked a lot better until they were a disaster with the puck on that powerplay. That pass attempt by Vidicek should never ever happen.

The cats need to cater to the "bandwagon fans". I know we're still only a handful of games into the season, I feel like the attendance is lackluster still atleast the three i've attended so far. The theme nights are sort of fun between country night/ y2k etc but, they could definitely find some ways to get more fans in the stands. Thursday night football night doesn't put butts in seats. Something like a loonie/toonie hotdog night or a "happy hour" game would 100% boost attendance, especially in say a thursday night game against a northern Quebec team. I would love to see the rink sold out like the coliseum used to be when the cats were a powerhouse. Curious to see what you guys think. They might've listened to my recommendations lol. $5.75 beer is a fair price imho . www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=1222508242275781&set=a.633726851153926

So for a 7pm weekday game you're getting a slight price break from 6-6:30. Certainly not something thats going to entice people to attend a game simply based on that promotion. Not too many people who might be on the fence about going are going to be there a full hour before puck drop to save $2 on a beer. The overall cost of going is the problem for people. That beer could be $4 and the cost is still too much as long as its $46 for 2 adults to just walk in the door. There's also a generational shift when it comes to alcohol. People under 30 are definitely dealing with a completely different perspective when it comes to drinking and its not near as big a part of their culture as it was with the older crowds. What might actually get more families through the door are some fixed cost promotions where people can properly budget before they walk in the door. 4 tickets, 4 drinks, 4 hot dogs for X price for example. Right now that family would have to spend over $100 just to walk in the door and then face the concession stand. Its easy to see why those people stay home and watch the game on their computer and eat their own snacks.

Thats a good start. You'd think there would be a mutually beneficial way for the team and the arena to come up with something geared toward this pack that sees a family concession deal be included even if it just guarantees that the concession stand sees some money come in while offering some cost certainty to the ticket buyer. As long as tickets rise in price I think its the concessions that will take a hit as it becomes harder for families to attend. And they become the biggest reasons why families just can't do more then 2-3 games per year in most cases as its just not affordable to have to spend $50 or more to get in and then $50 or more for snacks and drinks. I still think there's an element of creativity lacking in a lot of markets. Some teams are using social media much better as a way to keep fans engaged but there needs to be more efforts made around affordability when it comes to the down years. Everyone knows Moncton will sell tickets in the 2nd half of a contending season.
