Happens quite a bit in pre-season. Titan did it during their first couple of seasons

Same thing happend between Saint John and Lewiston last season. Both teams played split squad games both home and away on the same night. That could have been the one I was thinking about... It was just that one, I attended all the preseason games for Moncton last year and I don't recall them doing a split. It is kind of interesting the one St Johns team just had all the rookies, you'd think maybe they'd try to make the teams more even so that they could see how the rookies play with the veterans that are more likely to make the team. Unless they are seeing it as looking for the rookie who stands out the most amongst the rookies..

Big diff in the teams though is one lost 10-2 and the other won 4-0 lol Didn't help any that Halifax had about a dozen or more roster players in the lineup, including Voracek ... would have served them right if one of the Foggies wannabe goons took a run at him. Lots of the pre-season games have been very lopsided this year, makes you wonder how much either team gets out of it. You would think teams would try to work out a gentleman's agreement before the game as to the approximate roster make-up ... to avoid a bunch of Q league vets running up the score on a glorified junior A squad.

Halifax opened camp with something like only 38 players ... and they have a shit load of returnees ... so it stands to reason that any lineup they put out there will be heavy on experienced players.

What do you want Halifax to do? They have 35 players in came, and about 20 returnees. Do they just dress the 15 rookies and go shortstaffed? Voracek played but didn't play much. The reason he was dressed was to help the New Euro. He doesn't speak english, so Voracek translates for him. It was the smartest way to get him into the game without frustrating the hell out of him.

Personally I don't like the way St. John's did their split.
If you look at it they basically sent a rookie team to Halifax to get pumped. While all their veterans (Welcher, Allard, Graham, Guilbault, Layton, Filler, Pomerleau, O'Keefe) played in the other game.
There is nothing wrong with what Bathurst did which is play a rookie team for your first game but don't later divide your team into a veteran and rookie team to take on a strong team like Halifax.
Personally I like how the Rocket split their first two games. They divided up their veterans into 2 equally, divided the long shots into 2 equally and the kids on the bubble played both games.

Plus last time I checked training camp and preseason games were for everyone. Even Veteran players need some game time to help work out the rust. St. John's can do what they want but it's not Halifax's fault that they showed up with a rookie team.
