A Monkey could have coached that team...and basically every player on the team deserved a letter...they are all leaders on their own teams....but giving it to your own kid over guys who actually played on the U20 team is asinine. snip....He isn't undefeated because his teams are loaded ... he has taken mediocre (non-favourites) teams to championships. It's not like they were playing a house team from the boonies, the teams they played both in the worlds and the last series were stacked too. |

He was just benched for the last 2 games of an international series........that's pretty sad when you're going into the tournament as a top 2 line forward. He wasn't benched for poor play, he was 20 minutes late for a team meeting. I don't condone it, but I don't know his reasons either. I believe he was benched in game 7 for some undisciplined play - Game 8 was for being late. |

Nolan use to bench him for undisciplined play too ... but he was 17 then ... he always had a bad habit of hacking or shoving somebody on the way to the bench on a line change ... and getting caught. |

I think that's mixed up....Game 7 for lateness and Game 8 for reasons be known (possibly comments made to Sutter about game 7). |

And yet every team he plays on wins........... his hockey career is speckled with championships left and right. Doesn't seem to hurt his teams too much. He played for some spectacular teams. He didn't carry the Wildcats or VD or Team Canada. So you always have to be a team player. 2004-2005 year he was benched the last game in the playoffs against VD for not putting in effort. Character is shown when your playing for a terrible team not the best team. Sheppard playing with CB in the rebuilding years showed character. I have a love/hate relationship with Marchand that would get a lot better if he grew up. Yes he did carry VD (well, he and Letang). If you don't think he did, I take it you didn't see much of their series against Cape Breton last season. As he went, the team went. |

Good for Suter for teaching him a little lesson... I would have done the same. Edit: Team Canada would have done fine without him... many players could have taken his place. I guess you think the same of Perreault and Beauregard when they bot sat out for disciplinary reasons? |
