20 games....opinions
I think he should have got atleast that......
Senators player no longer had the puck and Downie left his skates.
Would be interesting to see what the suspension would have been were it Stevens or Pronger givining out the hit.

20 game suspension "for when he is on the Flyers roster". In my opinion it should also be for the AHL were he not to make the team.

Now that he has been suspended 20 ... I wonder if league president of the AHL, Dave Andrews, will honor that suspension ... I haven't seen anything about that anywhere.

So basically he stays down in the minors and isn't serving anything, so they have to call up him for 20 games and have him sit out those 20 games, not playing in the AHL at this time, if thats the case thats for the best its the most effective way to serve the suspension.

If the Flyers hadn't intended on keeping him in the NHL this year anyway, but intend on including him there in their future, could they keep him on their roster this year for 9 games and then send him down to the AHL or ECHL, in effect reducing his suspension from 20 to 11 games without it taking a year from his NHL contract? What was his chances for making the team this year anyway?

In was always under the impression that NHL suspensions were honored by the AHL. If it is just 20 Flyer games you would have guys being sent down to continue playing until the NHL club played the games he would have been suspended for then brought back up.
