There is a lot of wishful thinking in your post assuming that 16 and 17 YOs will replace Welton,MacDonald,Gaudet,Lincourt and Co. Brannon, Bezak, Sill and MacAusland are all rookies at this level and will be making an impact in 08-09 and the same goes for Pianosi and barberio, I don't say that they are not good, but not enough impact to finish in the first 4 teams in the Division. The 3 Ls are not impact players and Eagles is no better than any of our 2nd liners here. The real impact players are Mangan,Marquardt and Riopel. ....Very immature blue line...... They picked up some FA 19YO dmen. Gomes and Eastman who look more than half decent. We definitely don't have as solid a one-two punch on the blueline as last year ... but as I said, it appears our depth is better, as evidenced by cutting two returnees. Time will tell how the whole group comes together as a unit.

Good post.... but I question how much of an impact McAusland really will have this year. Anything you get from a 16YO, save Sidney Crosby, should be considered gravy. I have a hunch MacAusland will end up with 30-40 points .... not predicting he is a superstar this year ... but I think he will contribute. One thing is for sure, Flynn can use the depth to whip guys...right now MacAusland and Brown are #13 and 14 on the depth chart and both are advanced 16 year olds(guys that were top players in MAAA, not projects, should adapt retty quick), guys like Eagles Labelle Cameron Lessard Brannon MacLellan Brenton Bezak Sill will have to show up each night so they don't end up in the press box in favor of Brown or MacAusland. On defense, they lack the star power of last year, but 1-6 the defense is filled with solid guys, Pianosi Barberio Eastman Gomes Baca Wilson. Riopel(18) and Lavigne could be better than Sniderman and Riopel(17)

Face the facts Cats fans: You are in rebuilding mode, 16 years old player don't make an immediate impact on a team. Get real.
Why is everybody relying on exhibitions game to predict and use those stats for "proof" and to backup arguments that a team has a depth? It's exhibition games..not everything is melted together, not every player on the regular season team is there yet. Why don't we let the season start and see how the amazing rookies react to the real game? I am being realistic that our rookies won't do an impact and that we might have a shaky start and especially with Beauregard and Bartos gone, it hurts alot more then certain fans here believe. Yes, we have Svoboda and Messier, they're good players but it still hurts to lose 70 goals from Beauregard and the "projections of 85-90 pts" from Bartos. Tardif is still young, he will make errors, Legault is not an established goaltender yet. I mean, players like Grenache and Faille showed great numbers during the exhibition because of:
A) They were the veterans with the rookies so they're was a HUGE confidence booster right there. They were seen as the big guns to lead the young kids
B) The opposition didn't have their full arsenal so weaker opposition then normal.
C) They were on the 1st line instead of a 3rd checking line.
I won't make predictions of how many pts and such..just that they should average a little bit more then last year if the key players steps up thanks to their experience last season. But, do expect struggle for the first month. Bartos and Beauregard gone..

PS: Saying Neil Hodge is an impartial expert toward the Cats is like saying the RDS team are impartial when it comes to the Habs.

The 2 goalies are 18 and 19, the d-men are all 18-19 except Barberio(elite 17 year old rated 1st round for the draft) and the top 12 forwards are 18-19-20. Last year the team had 8-9 16-17 year olds in the lineup, this year most nights they only have 1(Barberio).

Why isn't this thread on the main page? what I don't get is how quickly this thread got turned into a Moncton thread by a AB poster and then the fire got fanned by Moncton and other AB posters. the thread is legit under the AB board but I wish more comments where made about le titan and their showing in the predictions, the PEI board seams to have done this effectively anyway just my opinion also yes I do think that Hodge is a homer, If I remember well in the Acadie Nouvelle both of the journalists made their predictions last year with both having different arguments
