Let's be very clear on 1 fact before I comment on the Bartos loss.....I am a Titan fan come thick and thin. I would cheer for Sanford, Sawyer and others if they were a Titan. I try hard not to badmouth these young hopefuls but no one is perfect.
Having said that , please try not to think that I am badmouthing Martin as I wished all along that he would return but so be it.
The numbers say this....he has a good skill set which might be difficult to replace early on BUT there are 18 and 19 year old experienced and skilled players standing in line to give in a try. The 4th line was and might still be a tough group to play against given a chance to play(and there are also forbidden injuries).
2006-2007 Stats for Bartos...
-24 goals of which 18 were PP playing mainly with Perr and Beau and lots of PP time -Svoboda had 23 of 35 goals on the PP
-4 wgoals, 47 hits, and 185 shots Scoring % was 13% and of the top 33 listed scorers last year only 4 had a lower % and only .3 or .4%
He will be missed but after the 3-4 weeks of maybes and could bes maybe not.
There are others who are ready and willing to move and only time will tell.
3 days and the season is on again.
Good luck to Martin Bartos in whatever he has chosen to do in the upcoming year!

No mather how you turn the question the lost of Bartos is a very big lost. Anyone who will step up will leave another hole behind him on the second, after that on the third and fourth line. If the guys who step up don't have 90-100 pts at the end of the season it will mean that he did not fill Bartos place completely. I don't care what you say Bartos is a big lost. The only way the Titan could have replace him was to trade for an accomplish player (Like Marchand) at the begining of the season. Now let hope we can find one when the trade period gonna start. Meanwhile, let hope that the Titan don't loose to many pts at the begining of the season while they try to fiond the right guys for the first line. Points at the begining of the season are really important, 1 point could mean the Jean Rougeau trophy ... or a playoff spot I don't think Marchand and Bartos are equivalent...and from what I hear, we DON'T want Marchand. I figure come Xmas time, if we're doing really well, a decision will have to be made. Wonder if there are any euros around the league that would be searching for a new home?? Why does it have to be a Euro? Any 1st line player would be welcome wouldn't he?

He does have an agent, it's Petr Svboda Is this a fact? Somebody posted this and it has been accepted as fact. But does anyone really know who his agent is?

The Titan don't NEED 2 Euros. Its funny how some teams and some people feel they have to have 2 Euro's ... one leaves or doesn't show so you have to scramble to get another Euro ... never thinking that any good Canadian kid (or American) could be just as good or better than any available Euro kid. Its also funny that in the past LGM and his crew have drafted weak Euros ... bargain basement Euros if you want ... in an effort to fill those two spots. I'd rather draft a high end kid that won't report than a bargan basement kid that can't make your team ... at least the kid that won't report can change his mind. You can get those bargain basement guys in the 10-12 rd of the midget draft and they cost less and come with less headaches (visas, language, etc).

I agree........don't draft em, unless they are a very solid player.....if they show, good, if not, it's really no loss.

Oh, absolutely, just hinting towards the fact that when shopping now (if we do shop) we can include Euros on our list...something we couldn'd do with Bartos here... Edit: This reply also goes for Steve in his post...saves me a type

When Bartos was in Saint John he was represented by Svoboda. That is a definite. Course after Bartos didn't get drafted maybe Svoboda dropped him, or vice versa.

Svoboda probably dropped him when he couldn't get a hold of him by phone, email, letter, etc (sorry, bad attempt at humor there...)

There are others who are ready and willing to move and only time will tell. 3 days and the season is on again. Good luck to Martin Bartos in whatever he has chosen to do in the upcoming year! A couple points you don't seem to be acknowledging or understanding.... -- While certainly possible and probable, a couple of younger guys can develop into solid players (like Faille, Joly etc.) that won't offset the loss of Bartos. Those players were going to develop anyway, and make your team ~deeper~. Now there becomes a chain reaction, where as Svoboda moves into Bartos spot, which weakens the 2nd line, and somebody else moves from the 3rd line to the 2nd line to replace Svoboda which will weaken the 3rd line and so on. When I look at Bathurst as a possible contender, I have to, and I am assuming and projecting the improvement of guys like Joly, Faille, Jezegou, Messier etc. Their abilities to step up, have already been factored in. If I don't factor that in, then all Bathurst has, is Perrault, Svoboda and a handfull of 3rd liners. That's not the makeup of a contender. Coming into this season, I felt Messier would be a solid 2nd line center, Svoboda and Bartos would be impact wingers, and you would have 1 more guy solidify himself as a legit scoring winger. I thought in order to make a run, Bathurst would definately need to add a high impact 1st liner, a 1st pairing defenceman, and possibly a #1 goaltender. As it stands now with the loss of Bartos, you could ~potentially~ be two 1st line players short, on top of the other holes (or potential holes). Bathurst is in a much more difficult hole. You'll need major improvement from a bunch of different players now, not just a couple. You'll need to avoid big injuries. The depth that was once there, likely won't be there anymore. A lot of things need to go right before the middle of December otherwise Bathurst may not look like a contender, and the bigger trades that ~are needed~ may not get done.

Murph, in your comments, you omit to mention Massé and Clendenning as top-2 liners.... Was it on purpose or oblivious on your part?
