Murph, in your comments, you omit to mention Massé and Clendenning as top-2 liners.... Was it on purpose or oblivious on your part? I don't feel like running down your entire line up. That's where the "etc" come into play. To make a proper assessment of our top-2 lines, you cannot make a knowledgeable statement without mentioning these two....

Clendenning is a grinder ... playing on your 2nd line ... what needs to be mentioned about that ?

Back to Bartos - I see that they have removed his picture from the top of this page

Moncton BS is what I will qualify this.... His 16 goals and 51 points would suggest I am correct ... he is not an offensive player. What about his 7 goals and 13 pts in 12 playoff games last season. Or the fact that as an 18 yr old bouncing between the 2nd & 3rd line he scored 23 goals and 58 pts in 67 games. I personally like Clendennings game and he is a solid 2 way player with offensive skill, certainly more than a 3rd line grinder as you suggest. Last season Clendenning simply had an off year which appeared to be largely because of his relationship with Chabot. This season with a fresh start and a new coach he will should put up much better numbers.

The fact that he had an unspiring season followed by a good playoff performance should show you and anybody that he is not a reliable offensive player ... he is decent but thats all. He was the Captain ... what more motivation do you need to show up everynight ?

Not too many 18 yr old grinders end up with 23 goals and 58 pts. And the fact that he went backwards in production to 16 goals suggests that it was an off-year. Now I'm not suggesting Clendenning is a top offensive player but certainly more than 3rd line grinder as you suggest. I guess we will just agree to disagree as we will have to wait and see what kind of production that Clennding puts up this season.

If Clendenning was a Moncton player we wouldn't be hearing this crap.

Look at the team he played with at 18 ... a very deep team contending for a championship ... they were 3 lines deep. This year they are are not quite 2 lines deep with Bartos now gone. Last year Clendenning was counted on for much more responsibility and was put into a role that he wasn't well suited for ... thats why his numbers were down. I'm not saying Clendenning can't play 2nd line ... I'm saying I think the Titan get more out of him in a shutdown role as the 3rd line center ... but if they can't replace his 15 to 20 goals on line 2 then I guess thats where he needs to stay. There seems to be a stigma from many by calling a guy a 3rd liner ... when in fact the 3rd line can be one of the most important lines on your team. A team with a weak or less expereinced 3rd line probably gives up more goals than they should. Clendenning leading the 3rd line might do very well to cut down the Titan GAA this year. Clendenning, Joly and Grenache (or whomever would be the best fit) would be tough to play against.

And the team was only 3 lines deep after Christmas. Not before.
