Who will be the odd man out.. or will they rotate guys?
I think Herr is the odd man out.

Boyle will stay IMO. He is 18 and shown he is willing to drop the gloves.

Boyle will stay IMO. He is 18 and shown he is willing to drop the gloves. I agree, I think Boyle has shown some upside to his game ... he doesn't hurt us any right now as a #6 d-man, and his ice time has increased of late ... IMO, he is probably ahead of both Herr and Wilson on the depth chart as we speak, and his performance overall is similar to that of Baca and Gomes ... I think he can be a legit top-4 guy next year at 19 ... no glaring weaknesses in his game, he is no superstar, but is reasonably solid in his own end, mobile, a bit of toughness, decent with the puck ... I like him.

I am not so sure that he is ahead of Wilson. he has the grit but from what I have seen from Wilson (albeit limited viewing ) I think with the ice time they are giving Boyle he could turn into a pretty solid D man. He has pretty good hands and vision. i think he could play more like Welton did for us. But he hasn't had much ice time the last while so i don't know what to think.

I think Herr will be the one to go. He sits in the stands for the majority of the games. I just don't think we need him. Unless they plan on keeping all of them and rotating them.. I see Herr as the one to go home.

I see Herr as the one to go home. Herr is unnecessary. There are very few tough guys in our division and the ones that do exist have very little affect on the game if you ignore them. Sending out Herr to fight one of the Gallant brothers suddenly makes the Gallant brothers useful ... as they will beat Herr and give a lift to their team. If you ignore them then they have no affect on the game. However, Herr cannot be released until the trading period opens up unless the Cats are willing to pay a $1000 penalty for an early waiver of a 19 YO. Its easier to keep him here and sit him out. Of course ... it may be cheaper to release him and pay the fine rather than paying billets a monthly fee and paying him his weekly stipend ... and the costs involved in carrying players (sticks, tape, meals on the road, hotel rooms, equipment, etc.)

To replace Herr's "toughness", I think it can be handled by various players. Baca is probably the toughest on the team. He was ready to go with Gallant Saturday.

Why are they bringing Tolles back? I thought he did alright while he was here--but they sent him packing for a reason, right? ....and isn't he a 19 year old?

They may be starting to gear up for the players they will lose to the World Juniors/U18 tournaments as well as trades. Just a thought, as I have no idea who, if anyone, would be going to either tournament. Barberio to the U18 perhaps? Baca or Bezak to the WJHC?

U18 takes place right around the 2nd round of the playoffs. We'll probably lose Brown and MacAuslund to the U-17 though.

i don't think Baca will be playing at the world juniors, but Barberio will probably be playing in the U18. sticking with the subject, I am gald to see Tolles returning. as for who goes, GOMES! or herr or even eastman. keep boyle for sure! and i think cody wilson should be getting more icetime than he gets. gomes and eastman out there together is not good for my blood pressure!
