....was something I was worried about with the absence of Labrie,Perreault,Sigouin and Tesink and with a new coach and new system following a so and so preseason....
The question was really if the team had enough depth and if the veterans would step up to replace the ones missing.
IMPO the answer was loud and clear: they answered in a great fashion. I was surprised to see the good offensive play by Desnoyers/Chamberland/Renaud trio on defense and the transition play went very well all weekend.
Out PP is at 33% eff. and Massé/Messier/Clendenning/Faille/Svoboda all answered the bell. We probably got one of the best 3rd line in the Q this season with Joly/Grenache/Mailloux chipping in....
Obviously our defensive game is not where it should be in a few weeks when our veteran Ds are back, but at least we got two wins and a solid contribution from everybody... The goaltending is also gonna get better no doubt....I must admit that Legault has been steady so far and is a good addition to the team...
Lots of positive points heading into our 2nd week of schedule.

It also helps to start your season against two teams predicted to be behind you in the standings ... allowing your team to ramp up gradually in preparation for tougher opponents. If it was a more offensively capable team playing you last friday ... I doubt you would have made it to OT.
2-0 is a positive start and great for team confidence.

If you look at Lewiston, you will see that most posters fro a while were predicting them to be a big team in the Division and the Titan were ranked behind for a big part of posters. Since the Bartos not coming is official, the posters have in a major part maintained that it would be a big blow to our offense and that we did not have the offensive depth to sustain such a loss without looking for a replacement part. These two weekend games showed exactly the opposite of that claim.... Also there were some posters who claimed that we were missing a real PP QB to replace Carle....something that is far from accurate from what we saw....

For starters I disagree with Steve, that beating Lewiston/Moncton was an easier start than other teams as both will be right in the hunt to finish top 4. Having said that these 2 weekend games have not shown that losing Bartos is a big loss. You played Riopel who had a bad night and Lewiston's 17 yr old backup goalie. Besides most posters (like myself) still consider Bathurst a strong offensive team even with Bartos but that doesn't mean that his absence won't have an effect. But if you still disagree with that why don't you at least let the Titan play a few more games against stronger defensive teams before making those kinds of statements. And why not leave things for what they are instead of trying to make it something that it is not. The fact is a 2-0 start especially without Perreault is a great start but so far that is all that it is a great start. 2 games does not prove or disprove your goaltending or offensive depth.

NOTHING is proven at this point. NOTHING. edit: Imagine if I posted something like "well, everyone said goaltending was too weak on the mooseheads, but we won games in PEI and CB giving up 5 goals in 2 games. Apparently its not a weakness afterall!" This is how people read your comments chsb, think about it

(with many key players for all teams missing I might add) Damn, you should be a scout. You ability to pick up something from nothing is outstanding

certainly a good way to start the season but i just found out my brother has a seperated collarbone possibly out 4-6 weeks. I thought something was up when Jezegou took that hit in the 3rd yesterday. He got up awfully slowly and his one arm was hanging limp. I thought it might've been a wrist or something, but you could tell on his face he was hurt. I fractured my collarbone in a game before and no one knew it except the training staff and myself until I left the game. It doesn't take much to do it. Anyway...hopefully he won't take too long to get back playing and it doesn't derail what could be a good season for him.

Don't get me started on scouting After reading many of Billy's comments I would think that btitan (chsb) could actually make a better one

Don't you think a scout would have better things to do than to chase chsb around in hockey forums He really is listed on one teams scouting staff on their website (I assume he is still with the same team for the last few years). I have seen him sitting at the team table at two separate drafts. Different teams both times. That boy really likes to stir the pot.
