So does nearly every other kid from time to time. He just has to hang in, and he will be here next year as backup. I wonder where all the support was during training camp cuz Passy wasn't this popular during camp. I think it's a big mistake not getting him in more then 2 games against the last team in our division but whatever I'll put on my rose coloured glasses for this one and move on. ;D

To add further debate, I know a few teams in the Telus divison put out offers for Dopoud but JB didn't bite. Interesting...

I am with you Canuckle this makes no sense to me but if I was building for a run I would have either played him more or I had no intention of using him next year in the first place. I am enjoying the ride this year however and we have one of the best tandems in the league.

There is no rose colored glasses here Cafucklehead. Its simple. We kept all three around this year. Fullerton is not back next year. Thus Passingham is our backup next year. Otherwise why the hell would JB keep Passingham around, especially with Mayer's world juniors being finished? You don't keep a third goalie around to groom for the backup role if you don't think he is capable of living up to it.
Is this an ideal situation? Of course not but there are upsides to what Passingham is doing. He's bonding with team members. Getting use to how life in the league is with all the travel and schooling and such. Familiar with fans, the organization and with the coaches and how they run their systems and training and teaching.
Not sure anyone is saying "Passingham is the answer for sure no ifs ands or buts about it there is no way he can fail!" or anything like that, but Passingham does deserve a shot at being the backup next year. If it doesn't work out a move can be made before the second half of the year.

19 next year. It's not a matter of satisfaction. We are trying to win this year. We are not going to threaten our chances of winning a game just to give Passy an extra game. It's not a perfect scenario but it is the one we will be going with.

For now yes.............................. It's not like we can send him back to a lower level because we would loose his rights but this is a problem for next year, nobody can tell how Passingham will do in the backup role next year until he is given the chance and like I have said before and like Leask just said, If it does not work out then address the situation then.

Shouldn't be that big of a deal to give him a few more starts this year should it? We feel confident he'll do fine next year we might as well have him play a few this year too don't ya think?

I think if the standings spread out a bit more and we don;t end up in a fight for the top then they could throw him in for another few starts.

We can't sacrifice position to get him more starts though

Yes I am satisfied with him playing 2 games versus the Cats this year. That is all he deserved, THIS YEAR, other than he should have gotten into one of those three games in NFLD. He's the third goalie. Not enough games to go around and no way he should be taking games from Fullerton or Mayer. It keeps getting mentioned "What do we do if Mayer gets hurt? Can Passingham handle the load?" No, or at least probably not, but that applies to any team if they lose their starting goalie really, unless you have a Bernier/Delmas tandem. Or if your team is a bottom of the barrell non-contender in rebuild mode and you just don't care how many games you lose. If your starter gets hurt in a contending year, you don't promote your backup. You go get another starter.

We can't sacrifice position to get him more starts though Read my post again...................... If we are in a position where we won;t move up or down the standings then we can afford to get him some icetime.

Like I've said before too I hope he does great and we don't need to make any moves at all it's not like I want the kid to fail or anything I hope he's a solid backup for Mayer. His age and size are to very good qualities and I think the only reason he stayed on the team all year was because they may have lost him o another team
You give more credit then I do to 2 starts against the Wildcats he's going to have about 9 months between starts not exactly a good thing.
Practice is not the same as game situations

There is not much that can be done about it now............ like Habh8ter said I don't think it was JB's original plan to keep Fullerton for more then half a season but with playing and being much higher in the standings then expected the plan had to change.
Fullerton has had a very solid season to date and with the reputation he has as being a big money player then its better to keep him, he has been a big reason for our success to date. If it cost out back up for next season a few starts then so be it.
