Speaking of Ejov did you guys throw his address away, or the next time Timo struggles will he be getting a Dear Ilia letter in the mail. ;D Don't blame me for a few roof jumpers I told them they would look silly .... BTW how's Mayer? ;D He got yanked in his last game....... so he will most likely be first star in the next one .

LOL habh8er you best hope we don't get knocked out in the first round of the playoffs this year because you know that comment will come back to bite you in the ass. First round....you have no faith ......home ice advantage against the Foggies, bring it on lol ;D I like our chances and am not too intimidated to say so.....whats he gonna do come to my house and steal my lunch money. ;D Woah woah wait a sec habh8er. I never said we would lose in the first round, or to the Fog Devils in the first round. All I said was you better hope we don't lose in the first round (to anyone), after that comment you made. Otherwise these out of towners will be less-than-kindly reminding you of your statement.

MOB must be trouty's mother. Man some people cannot even have a little fun in here and that is what it is all about. Maybe go back and read your son's comments from the first two years. The boys are winning and we are having fun. We were never in this position before and it sucks to be under us in the standings, does it not??? When Mayer goes in the first round of the NHL draft ask him how he feels and when he gets his new car (might already have it) ask him how he feels. And like hab said he could turn around an shut out the Mooseheads this weekend, guess that is why he is still a kid. MOB were you making six figures at his age???

I was making the point that I have faith in the team getting home ice and beating the Foggies when we get there if they are the opponent, and that I don't even consider a first round exit as an option after two years out of the race . For the record I never said that you said anything only that "maybe" I have more reckless faith in the team than "maybe" you do..... And all the crow we have to eat will be worth it when JB and ontariofan bring us the Big One. ;D

Yup that’s me I’m the Mother of trouty! I don't condone trouts behavior so why take it out on me little man. You have some glaring misconceptions about Mayer, while I’m sure Mayer is being compensated well for his services he's more then likely not making 6 figures or anything near that. "guess that is why he is still a kid" So being inconsistent makes you a kid if he wasn't inconsistent he'd be a man? And if he keeps his inconsistency up you will see his stock flop not saying it's a guarantee but already Red Line and ISS have him listed out of the first round. Your uninformed posts make you look silly. I have respect for habber at least he doesn’t make erroneous statements all over the place and enjoys kidding around. You sound like a 16yo pimply faced kid who has imaginary lats syndrome who constantly puffs up his chest and thinks he's something special trying to impress everyone with his toughness. However posturing on the internet has little effect other then to make you look foolish. Maybe you should graduate high school then come back and talk.

Please do not bring Trouty into the conversation besides I think we might be getting slighty off topic. Thanks

I do not know why but I will wade in here. I have done some work recently in the Czech Repulic and I have been out to places where they love to talk hockey. People could have been pulling my leg but I am confident enough here to make a bet. If salaries are public knowledge and if we can find out what they paid for Mayer I am willing to bet that the enitre package is well in access of $100,000.

Not going to argue too in depth with this because these things aren't made public, so just to put it in prospective, the top wage for a long term AHL vet is in the 100,000 range. Conversely the low in the AHL is somewhere in the neighborhood of 40K. It is unlikely an undrafted prospect is making 6 figure cash. Even a drafted prospect would be hard pressed to make 6 figures unless he had to be lured from a lucrative deal in Europe. There are exceptions to every rule but for the most part these guys don't make what you think.

While I don't follow the AHL anymore I was sure when we had the Saint John Flames osme of them were making approx. 200k per season I can't see AHL players only making 40k a year they might as well go to the ECHL. Shit maybe they could play with the Blacks Harbour Silverkings ;D

I've done some digging and the 40K was a pre lock out number. I'm not sure the exact league min but Ted Purcell is making $62,500 as a rookie so we can take that as the min if you would like (seem like a better number to me). The rule gets a little tricky after that as some players will make 10% of there NHL salary I'm assuming thats for the 2 way NHL/AHL contracts. A player who is on a pure AHL contract however as far as I know tops out like I said in the neighborhood of 100k now by that I mean at least 100,000 could go as high as 199,000 (i know big difference but I'm not sure of the exact figure so I was using a base and going from there).

I am going to look into this a bit more but one stat I found from BC 98/99 season had junior players averaging $500/week. Some make $50 what do the top end make?? I want something more reliable than this though.
The Kamloops Blazers sold for $7,000,000 this year. This is junior team and that is a piss load of money. It has also been recorded that McCain spent $5,000,000 to get the expansion team here.
In the WHL every year a player plays in the league they get a year of the university or whatever paid for including book etc. in Canada or the US. Just that alone could be worth thousands of dollars. All I have to do is look at my student loans and costs and 6 figures would help me break even. So in the WHL with my salary, bonus money, throw in all the extras, education and a player could easily chew up a ton of money.
If the Q wants to compete in the Euro market it has to cost a ton of money. If anyone else finds anything please let knowI think that people will be surprised.

That education money you speak of comes from the leagues education policy and is only given to you if you go to Uni it is also a year for year deal you play a year you get a year. I think it's like $4000 a year for 4 years ($16,000) not exactly ground braking stuff but enough to get you through. Some teams offer a little more but thats the basic. this is what each player can earn above board in the Q
3.07.4 Remuneration The remuneration is the weekly amount indicated in the League’s standard player contract. Payments start with the first game of the regular season and end with the last game of the regular season or with the last playoff game. The weekly remuneration allowed, aside the room and board is as follows: a) players who are 16 and 17 years old $35 per week; b) 18 year-old players $50 per week; c) 19 year-old players $60 per week; d) 20 year-old players $150 per week. 18 3.07.5 Bonuses to players The League shall pay a bonus to the 25 players of the teams having achieved the following: a) Champions of the League $125 per player; b) Champions of each division at the end of the regular season $100 per player; c) Champions of the eighth finals $50 per player; d) Champions of the quarter finals $50 per player; e) Champions of the semi-finals $75 per player; f) Champions of the finals $150 per player; g) The team representing the League at the Memorial Cup $1,500 for the team. These bonuses are the only bonuses approved by the League and no team shall pay its players additional amounts of money. The above mentioned amounts of money are included in the operation budget of the League.
There are side deals but as I said these guys get a lot less then you think.
