Pretty solid game all around by the Dogs. 3rd period we slowed down but our PK was rocking. Very undisciplined play by Stich, Graham just tapped him on the shoulder. Fullerton had an excellent game, I thought Timo played pretty good too.

SEA DOGS DEFEAT FOG DEVILS 4-1
Saint John is Now 17-7-1-2 on the Season Following Impressive Home Win
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Tuesday, November 27, 2007
SAINT JOHN, NB --- One month to the day after earning an improbable come-from-behind win over the St. John’s Fog Devils at Harbour Station, the Saint John Sea Dogs were able to vanquish their expansion cousins in a much more subdued fashion on Tuesday night, scoring the first three goals of the game prior to cruising to a relatively easy 4-1 victory on their home ice.
Twenty-six months to the day after registering his first career QMJHL win (as a member of the MAINEiacs and coincidentally against St. John’s), veteran Sea Dogs goaltender Travis Fullerton earned his tenth with of the year for Saint John, making 34 saves to set a career-high for victories in a season.
“Travis played exceptionally well for us out there tonight,” said Head Coach/General Manager Jacques Beaulieu following the three-goal victory. “We did a good job of limiting their chances, but whenever they did get a look at the net our goaltender was there to turn them away. This was a good win for us and we’re definitely looking forward to our game on Saturday against the Mooseheads.”
Alex Grant, Chris DiDomenico, Alexandre Leduc, and Jeff McNeil all scored for Saint John in the win, while Mario Kempe provided the Fog Devils’ only goal of the night in a losing effort.
The Sea Dogs drew first blood on Tuesday, with Scott Howes setting up Chris DiDomenico for a tap-in power play marker midway through the first period. Ryan Sparling also picked up an assist on the play, which earned Saint John an early one-goal advantage.
DiDomenico’s goal, his league-leading 24th, proved to be the lone tally of the opening frame, as both Fullerton (9 saves) and St. John’s’ Timo Pielmeier (10 saves) performed well between the pipes for their respective teams throughout the opening twenty minutes of play.
Jeff McNeil then put the home team up by two 5:35 into the second period, firing a snap shot from just inside the blue line that ricocheted off of a pair of Fog Devils on its way to the back of the net, earning the 19-year old defenseman his first goal of the season.
With 8:23 remaining in the middle frame, St. John’s was awarded a 5-on-3 power play when Yann Sauve incurred a two-minute minor for delay of game 0:51 into a penalty kill. The Fog Devils were unable to capitalize on their double-PP opportunity however, with their best chance coming in the form of a close-range shot by Luke Adam that was turned aside by Fullerton, who thwarted the centre’s scoring attempt with a lightning-fast left pad, keeping the visitors off the scoreboard in the process.
Very shortly after Sauve’s penalty had expired, Alexandre Leduc put the Sea Dogs up 3-0, banking the puck in off of a St. John’s defenseman’s skate on a fortuitous passing attempt from the corner.
The Fog Devils scored their first goal of the night 10:45 into the third period, with Mario Kempe putting an end to Fullerton’s shutout bid with his 14th tally of the season.
That would be as close as St. John’s would get however, as some stellar goaltending from Fullerton in the late going in conjunction with an empty net goal off the stick of Alex Grant combined to make the final score SEA DOGS 4 – FOG DEVILS 1.
Up next for Saint John is a huge divisional showdown with the Halifax Mooseheads on Saturday, December 1 at Harbour Station. The Mooseheads are currently ranked first in the QMJHL East with a record of 20-4-0-4.

Good game tonight , seemed to lack any real excitement at times but the boys played a pretty solid game all around. Dido with another one to take the lead in the scoring race (for goals) is awesome. Good game from Mr. Didomenico again tonight he plays like he's 6'1" 220 lately seems to have a real mean streak some times....him and Howse had a running fued going tonight with a couple of different players, lots of good hits and some extras after the fact thrown in too.
Too bad Fullerton didn't get his shutout it looked like it was going to come tonight but it wasn't meant to be, hopefully he gets one soon ...he's played well this year for us, and once again the starting goaltender got the 1st star...Mayer did at the last home game, these two have got what it takes to be a wicked tandem in net....Timo played a good game here tonight like was said before, he had no chance on either of the two deflections and the Dido goal was bang bang and it's in the net, no chance to move on that one before it was behind him.
Hope that Liske and Hooper are back soon, we spoke to them on the concourse and they were eager to get back in there, Happy Birthday to Peyton.
What was Stich thinking on that one, that looked like a Zinedine Zidane moment....Stichy looked like he lost it for a second. So whats the story on the match .....league review and auto suspension, or a slap on the wrist.

Auto suspension...if it is bad (I didn't see the game), expect 5+ games because he has a history of violence.

The Stich spear was pretty boneheaded, but wasn't particularly violent. I would expect one or two games.
He was trying to goad Graham (the Devils' leading goal scorer) into a second fight, to get him out of the game. I guess he goaded too hard...in the groin.
Not that I like the Foggies, but I was glad to see Luke Adam come back after that awful slide into the boards. Glad he and Despres were both okay.
Speaking of Despres, is it just me, or did he look like he was waiting for an opportunity to hit sometimes? It looked to me like he was really relishing the new-found physical side of his game.
Good effort by everyone. Fully had his hands full in the 3rd, and he handled it. Sorry he didn't get the shutout, but a win is a win, and as long as he keeps getting those, I would imagine he'll be happy with his play.

Last line of defence QMJHL Saint John netminder leads the way as Sea Dogs down expansion rival Fog Devils 4-1
Andrew McGilligan Telegraph-Journal Published Wednesday November 28th, 2007 Appeared on page B14
SAINT JOHN - It's not even the midway point of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League season and Saint John Sea Dogs goaltender Travis Fullerton is already setting personal bests.
The Saint John netminder picked up a career-high 10th win Tuesday in a 4-1 Sea Dogs win over the St. John's Fog Devils in front of 2,685 fans at Harbour Station.
Chris Di Domenico, Jeff McNeil, Alexandre Leduc and Alex Grant scored for Saint John while Mario Kempe had the lone Fog Devils goal.
"I really hadn't thought about it, I didn't really know until right now," said Fullerton after the game of his milestone victory.
The Riverview product was quick to give credit for the 34-save win to his defencemen.
"Our (defence) was unbelievable tonight," he said. "I saw every shot which makes my job easier."
The game started off with good flow for the Sea Dogs. The squad looked impressive with solid forechecking and a couple of scoring opportunities early in the first period.
The quick start kept the Fog Devils on the defensive and starting goalie Timo Pielmeier on his toes.
However, with Jean-Simon Allard in the box for hooking, the Saint John power play struck. Scott Howes came out of the corner and fed a cross-crease pass to Di Domenico who one-timed the puck past Pielmeier at 8:27. Ryan Sparling drew an assist on the marker to extend his point streak to eight games. The goal also gave Di Domenico his QMJHL leading 24th tally of the season.
After being dominated through the first 15 minutes of play, the Fog Devils mounted a late charge. Despite some good opportunities, St. John's was denied the tying goal thanks to Fullerton who made nine stops in the first.
Both teams got a scare early in the second when a collision between Luke Adam and Simon Despres left both players prone on the ice. Adam seemed to get the worst of it as two Fog Devils helped him off the ice and he appeared to be in a lot of pain.
Shortly after the collision, the Sea Dogs increased the lead to 2-0 at 5:35 of the middle frame. Defenceman McNeil let a shot go from the point that ricocheted off two Fog Devils before ending up behind Pielmeier. The marker was McNeil's first of the season.
St. John's got a golden opportunity to get back in the game midway through the second with a two-man power play.
Saint John showed why it has one of the best penalty killing units in the league, killing off the two-man advantage and adding to their lead shortly after the penalties expired.
Leduc threw a centering pass in front of the St. John's goal that deflected off a defender and in for a 3-0 Sea Dogs edge.
Sea Dogs head coach and general manager Jacques Beaulieu liked what he saw from his penalty killers.
"We were really good on the (penalty kill) tonight and (Fullerton) was our best penalty killer," Beaulieu said.
The Fog Devils broke Fullerton's shutout bid just past the halfway mark of the third. A point shot from Pat O'Keefe was deflected in front and past Fullerton by Kempe to cut the Sea Dogs lead to 3-1.
With less than five minutes to play, Saint John defenceman David Stich took a penalty for spearing Fog Devil Ryan Graham. Stich was assessed a five-minute penalty for the infraction and a match penalty.
The Sea Dogs would be the ones to strike during the penalty. Grant sent a clearing attempt the length of the ice and into an open net as the Fog Devils had pulled the goaltender. The final minute goal made it 4-1 Saint John.
Beaulieu said defence was the reason for the Saint John victory Tuesday and will be key for the rest of the season.
"We've got to play good defence because we only average three or four goals a game," the bench boss said. "We can't get into a run and gun game, we don't want to do that."
HOMETOWN: Due to injuries to forwards Alexandre Picard and Payton Liske, Quispamsis product Andrew Langan made his third start of the season Tuesday for the Sea Dogs.
TOP GOALIE: Rimouski Oceanic netminder Michael Dupont was named the Canadian Hockey League goaltender of the week. The backstop had a 2-0 record with a 0.50 goals against average and a .982 save percentage in two starts. His best performance was a 25-save 4-0 shutout of the Quebec Remparts on Sunday.

Graham looked up at us and started laughing when he went down the tunnel. He put on the show and it worked. Was Stich a bone head, yes, but it was far from violent. Good win but I doubt JB appreciated being outshot by such a weak team. Our second and third goals were gifts and when you are on a roll this happens. It is like we can't do anything wrong right now. I bet we could blindfold Dido next game and he still scores. Oh yeah where are our critics from the Rock these days? ?

The shots were actually pretty close most of the game they really became lopsided the last 5 minutes of the game which is due to the major by Stich.

I found a lot of the Devils shots were pretty weak wrist/snap shots from just over the blue line. Fullerton played good but wasn't really tested until the 5 minute pp at the end. As he said, the D did excellent by letting him see the shots.
I would like to see Fully get the start against powerful Halifax and Mayer agaisnt the Rocket.

Were still here and we are still critical of something’s but for the most part on your team it's hard to argue with success. I wasn't going to comment but since you decided to call Devils fans out I guess I will. That was a dirty spear by Stich don't know about an extend suspension if he got an auto one game that certainly enough in my view. Don't act like it didn't happen though, it wasn't a show, he got a stick in the nuts and id say it hurt. I don't know bout you but it doesn’t take much to topple a grown man when it comes to a bag tag. The fact he laughed at you going down the tunnel probably had more to do with him being heckled then it did him laughing that he “tricked” the ref. As much as a shot to the groin hurts Graham was on the ice long enough for most of the pain to subside the fact he laughed in the tunnel proves nothing. As for the week team comment I suppose the standings would indicate that right now but our team hasn’t played up to snuff yet. Not to mention that was the end of our 6 game road trip on which we played most of it missing 3-4 regulars. Depending on what happens during the trade period look for us to be a little less of a “weaker” team. Good win for you guys Fullerton played grate and we fell victim to a bad brake or two (seems our luck thease days) a 2-1 score would have done this game better Justus. On a side note I’d like to say boy was I wrong about Dido I thought he benefited from being new to the block last season and would easily be solved this season. Turns out he’s the real deal, I guess it’s pretty hard to solve his speed and creativity.

While injuries may have played a part the Dogs are not without injuries as well you had no Picard-Hooper or Payton Liske to have to contain either. Stich should not have done what he did absolutely there was no need for it and a terrible time to do it could have cost his team the entire game. If I were a Foggie fan I'd be more concerned over the fact that my team is not on pace for anything better then what they've done in the past 2 seasons point totals could very well be the same or close to it. Lucky for everyone Moncton appears to be the low team on the totem pole this year. They'll likely be having a fire sale once the trade period opens.
