The SeaDogs will be in for a tough road game this evening as they play the Moose for the first time this year. As reported on the Moose board they will have their full line up on the ice for the first time this year. www.hfxnews.ca/index.cfm?sid=68659&sc=94 If the rotating of goaltenders continues as has been the case so far for the Dogs, it will be Robert Mayer who gets the start at the M.C. With a week having passed since the dogs played last (3-2 win over Moncton) will they come out rusty or rested ...we shall see tonight. Should be interesting to see what coach J.B. does with the lines tonight, as this will be the first game with recently aquired forward Scott Howes... I would like to see him play with Picard and work on building some chemestry between the two veteran Q- players, but as is the case with Beaulieu we will have to wait and see because he's a hard guy to read, never know what he has up his sleeve. For my prediction I will say Dogs by one goal ..maybe 5-4, with Mayer having to shine to get the win...if the goaltending is less than super it could turn out to be a long game for Saint John as this Halifax team should be able to roll their lines and get some good chances against the Dogs with home ice and last change opportunities.

I'm predicting most of the moosemen will sit back and wait for Voracek and McMillan to do all the work. Our great young defensemen will step up, our forwards will be fired up, Mayer will show his real stuff, and the boys will take home a big 5-1 win!

I like the way our defense is playing. Holding Moncton to 3 shots in the 3rd last weekend was huge.
Has the team allowed 30 shots in a game yet?
I'll take a D that's playing very well over an offense that's just starting to round into form.
I love the fact that teams are still starting backup goalies against us in back-to-back game situations.
Look for SJ to take advantage and win a close one, 4-3? But next time we play Hali, I'm not so optimistic...

But next time we play Hali, I'm not so optimistic... Ya, so they have to take them now while they're down

Honestly, we have a team that can win any night. Not that I'd expect a win against Halifax ever.

The dogs have not allowed over 30 shots against as of yet, but that could change tonight. I really hope to see a win but it's going to be tough.

Is that we expected from the Sea Dogs when our guys returned?

Is that we expected from the Sea Dogs when our guys returned? I agree- that couldn't be further from the truth. If anything, guys like Swan, Hillier, Pridham, etc will play harder to make sure they still get lots of ice time, even with the return of Logan/Jake. The possibility exists that it could be a 5-1 game like he predicts. I've learned never to say never, but I would be shocked if it happened. Voracek will be at the top of his game, and shouldn't need much time to click with teammates considering he's been practising all week. If MacMillan is not 100% yet, he just won't see as much ice time, and won't be counted on as much. I predicted 5-2 Moose earlier this week before I knew for sure if Voracek and Mac were playing. I'll stick by that prediction. Saint John is a talented team, and I doubt they will lose without a fight.

I agee it is hard to read JB but with the trades and pick ups it looks like he is trying to save his ass with a winning season. If he goes big for the win tonight he will play two lines most of the game. However this could have a huge impact on the game at home tomorrow. If he wants Harbour Station filled he better put on a show at home but my fear is that this will not be the case. I see a tough lose in Halifax and then having a tired team in Saint John. The thrid and fourth liners will not have enough ice time or experience to hold us in the game and we lose by 5 goals. Some of the 5000 might give the Dogs a second look but if they get burned twice they will not be back. The only flaw I had with JB last year was how he overplayed guys and did not develop the talent pool and I am seeing the same thing again this year. If the two lines can do this for 70 games he is a hero but if not things could start going south quickly. The only line with chemistry is Dido's and then the others have been shuffled around every game. 4- 3 Halifax win tonight followed by a 5 goal lose at home.
