www.saintjohnseadogs.com/news/full_story.asp?dbid=343ALEX GRANT NAMED SEA DOGS CAPTAIN FOR 2007-08 SEASON Saint John Sea Dogs Head Coach/General Manager Jacques Beaulieu has announced that defenseman Alex Grant will serve as Team Captain for the upcoming season. “We’re very proud to be naming Alex our captain,” said Beaulieu. “He has exhibited outstanding leadership and character over the past two years, and he’s definitely the kind of player that we want representing our organization both on and off the ice.” Grant, 18, was Saint John’s first ever pick at the QMJHL Entry Draft, having been selected first overall in 2005. The 6’2”, 185 lb. native of Antigonish, NS has appeared in 115 games over the past two seasons, registering 16G-29A-45P for the Sea Dogs in addition to 166 PIM. This past June, Grant was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the fourth round (118th overall) of the NHL Entry Draft. Grant is very pleased to be donning the ‘C’ this season for the franchise with whom he's spent the entriety of his major junior career. "It means a lot to me and shows the coaching staff has trust in me. I hope to guide the guys to a successful playoff berth and then a successful playoff run," Grant said. The Sea Dogs will take on the Lewiston MAINEiacs in pre-season action tomorow night at Androscoggin Bank Coliseum. The game gets underway at 8:00pm Atlantic Time.
