Unfortunately because I can't get time off I only seen the first period but form what I saw it doesn't look like we should expect any real surprises making the team but I'll leave the in depth stuff to the guys that stayed longer then I did.
I was impressed though with a few guys
Alex Grant although still looking thin really schooled some guys that expected him to pass which he never did and took it in for a decent scoring chance on St Laurent who also played pretty decent IMO might have had alittle luck too ;D
Matthew Stoddard had a nice goal and from what I saw he looks much better then last year.
Francis Charland looked exactly like I thought he would made smart plays and looked every bit of the vet that he is.
Sebastien Rioux looked really good to me I was actually surprised at how composed he looked hope he carries into the regular season.
Ryan Sparling looked alot better I'm hoping they don't trade him now at all unless it's for something special. A 2nd RD pick the way he looks right now "No Thanks!"
Payton Liske looked very good alittle tenative maybe but still went into those high traffic areas and got a chance to see that quick release didn't miss by much.

Team White Goaltenders #1 - Robert Mayer#31 - Karel St Laurent - played very well #35 - Matthew Dopud - played very well #2 - Yann Sauve#3 - Pascal Amyot - looked bigger and a better skater. Dogged it though #5 - Alexandre Leduc - showed some hustle and grit. I like the kid, but I wonder if he has to earn a spot. #6 - Trevor Steen - buh bye #7 - Simon Despres - OMFG I love this kid. He has sweet feet! A few times I was sure he was beat in the corner but every time he regained position effortlessly. His muscling of Liske off the puck showed some real strength as Peyton was pushing hard and had position. Wonderful skating, vision, and tape-to-tape passes. He could be #2 by season's end. #8 - Phillip Richer - was he out there? Oh yea, he got a goal, but that's all I saw of him. #9 - Jordan Knox - showed flashes. A couple of shifts sold me on his potential, but he was very hard to find the rest of the time. # 10 4 - Chris Christani - as expected, cut #11 - Francis Charland - sweet goal, in the play a lot #12 - Matthew Stoddard - was hard to find at times, but he wasn't paired with elite players most times. Did have some very good shifts. Nice setup on a goal. #14 - Daryl Dillman - as expected, cut #15 - Sebastien Rioux - as expected #16 - Steven Anthony - awesome body but didn't show it much. He and JB will get along famously #17 - Darren Shecapio - good size and wheels, but not much for hands or brains. IF he really picks it up and starts throwing the body, he could make waves. #18 - Clifford Mugford - send him home, can't fight worth sh*t. #19 - Andrew Spinney - as expected, 1st cut #20 - Tony Resendes - wow, what a spark plug. I can't see keeping him though. #21 - Riley Lewis - didn't see him much, 1st cut #22 - Keven Charland - keep yer head up, had an aggressive last shift #23 - Nicolas Pard - played very well, not very solid Team Blue Goaltenders #1 - Travis Fullerton#31 - Nathan Dunnett - showed flashes but had a hard day, looked nervous. #35 - Troy Passingham - played very well. One dumb mishandle. #2 - Scott McDonald - as expected, 1st cut #3 - Jeff McNeil - as expected #4 - Ryan Sparling - as expected - very good #5 - Anthony Pisano - got beat too many times, but showed flashes of being able to skate. Could use some more muscle. Good punch vs. Mugford. #6 - Luc LeBlanc - played very well. He's a smart player and good skater. #7 - David Stich - as expected #8 - Michael Veysey - as expected #9 - Brandon MacDonald - played like he wants to be there. Great hands, aggressive, big, I would like to see better speed and bulk 1st. He might just make it. #10 - Michael Kirkpatrick - looked slow and apprehensive, needs to give more #11 - Brett Gallant - as expected. I don't know what was more entertaining his stickhandling the puck or Mugford's balls¿ #12 - Michael Cormier - as expected - apprehensive, 1st cut #14 - Francois Gauthier - as expected - vey good #15 - Evan Dickie - as expected, 1st cut #16 - Justin Finley - as expected, competetive #17 - Mike Thomas - a physical monster! #18 - Zach Jones - as expected, 1st cut #19 - Payton Liske - dominant #20 - Alex Grant - as expected #21 - Matt Page - as expected, 1st cut #24 - Andrew Langan - lots of energy, but struggled to keep up #25 - Chris Didomenico - as expected

Thomas with 4 Monster hits today on the newcomers. I think Rioux told him to calm down.

Alot of yapping back and fourth between Gallant and Mugford but Mugford wanted nothing to do with Gallant.

Alot of yapping back and fourth between Gallant and Mugford but Mugford wanted nothing to do with Gallant. I think Mugford was ready to go. After Brett goosed him with his stick, Mguford drilled Brett with a cross-check, but Brett laughed and skated away. Pisano caught him with his first right and knocked his helmet off. Mugford had chances, but he threw short little choppy slaps, kinda like his skating. Pisano then got his shirt over his head and was whaling away with uppercuts. I don't think any caught and did damage though. The kid's not a fighter.

Few guys I never mentioned last post
#20 - Tony Resendes - funny someone else noticed the red helmet lol. I watched him for the first period and he was everywhere unfortunately sometimes he forgot to bring the puck with him but he's almost funny to watch at times.
#31 - Karel St Laurent - I agree I thought he played very well still not likely to stick though.
#9 - Jordan Knox - this guy has mad wheels but boy is he small that doesn't mean he can't get it done though training camp is just getting started.
#22 - Keven Charland - Keep your head up is an understatement he almost lost it! (his head)
#24 - Andrew Langan - You can tell he really wants to be on this team I just don't know if he's ready yet
#18 - Clifford Mugford - He's got along way to go before he's ready for the speed of the Q and sounds like he's not ready to be an enforcer either

Mugford should have taken his chances on Thomas that's the role he'd be playin if he made the team but we all know he's not making the cut.

Resendes - I noticed all kinds of hustle getting up the ice, and comparatively little coming back.
Knox - I'd say he's short, but definitely not small. The guy is thick and wide...seems like it helps his balance, because in practices, he certainly seemed compact, and like he'd be hard to knock off-stride.
Stoddard - Also looked pretty good. He was obviously told what to work on over the summer, or he's smart enough to figure it out on his own. Looked pretty good with Pard.
Grant - Looks like he wants to be a leader and an elite player. He was one of the most energetic players in the morning practice.
Thomas - the other most ebergetic guy this morning. In the game, he was hitting anything that moved. the hit on #6 white in the corner was hilarious.
Rioux - I have a friend who hates this guy for some reason, and even he was forced to admit he was impressed. I think he's one of the brightest spots of training camp so far, and he's forcing all the other returning D-men to step up as well. I'd guess the "C" is between him and Grant at this point, with Grant having the inside track, and a bit of a head start...
I saw Gallant skate away from the fight with Mugford after the shenanigans leading up to it. Shows a little glimpse of maturity, because he has nothing to prove with his fists at this point, and it gave Pisano a chance to take Mugford on later.

I don't think any caught and did damage though. The kid's not a fighter. From what I saw of Pisano, he isn't much better then Mugford.............each punch thrown looked very weak. I don;t know why everyone is giving Mugford a hard time, yes he isn;t very skilled or willing it seems but the kid works as hard as he can out there and gives it his all. He was a 10th round draft pick and a long shot at best. He just is very inexperienced and needs to learn how to fight cutting his teeth in Junior A next season if he is serious about trying to fight...............look for him to improve and show what he has next training camp. Toughest job in sports these guys get my respect.

Killer it's not that I don't respect Mugford but everyone is stating their opinions on players and Mugford looks like a 10th RD pick fair enough.
I think 90% of the guys on the ice are working their collective asses off they all want to be on this team if not they wouldn't be here.
The only reason I think alot of people are talking about him now is because we've been talking about him for about a month now. Mugford's name jumps off the page so we tend to watch guys like him closer whether it's warranted or not.
None of us watch guys Steen, Dillman, or Spinney? If we talked about them before training camp we would be talking about them now.

I haven't really said anything about the practices and scrimmage I watched because the guys who are supposed to make this team look like they will. Thus anything else worth saying would be negative, which I was trying to avoid, until that scrimmage game.
Dillman. For this level of hockey he sucks. I wouldn't risk waiting until after Wednesday's scrimmage to cut him either. Hell I would have cut him during today's scrimmage after he gave the knee on knee to Dido. All we need is some kid who isn't fit to play in the Q right now and is in over his head doing something like that to keep from getting blown by and seriously injuring a key part of our team.
Cut Dillman now.
To end on a positive note, Grant's skating is amazing so far. By and far the best skater out there, and that includes good ole Sawyer.
