This is going to sound a little crazy but, i am leaning toward resendes right now, instead of knox, but what else can jb do, when tony is out playing knox right now, wish i had a christal ball. I can not for the life of me see jb getting rid of F. charland or fullerton , Should be interesting. I am too, but it's not clear whether we can keep both Knox and Resendes: 3.02 TWENTY YEAR-OLD PLAYERS a) Each team of the League can register and play with three 20 year-old players or players who will have turned 20 by December 31st of the current year, as long as their names were registered on the eligibility list of the team on February 10th of the previous season, except for one of those player whose name could not have been inscribed on that admissibility list.

Can you have 4 if you scratch one every game, or can you only carry 3 on your 25 man roster? Sounds Like Resends is just creating a huge headache (but a good one to have). In the end if he looks that much better then Knox, you gotta take him...Maybe the rocket would trade for Knox?

You can have 4 until February 10th, I think.
f) Should a club sign a major junior certificate with a fourth 20 year-old player on February 10th, this team shall release one of its three 20 year-old players signed major junior. Subsequently, a special annual draft session shall be held in order to enable this 20 year-old player to play with another QMJHL team. A special selection order shall be determined by reversing the order of the teams general standings as at February 9th.

I bet Resendes would be welcomed with open arms in Lewy, and since Piché is apparently wanting out ... Like we need another D. Trading ends Monday!

I trust JB will do what's best for the club but we didn't know alot about Knox and nothing about Resendes before camp except that both players were MVP in each of their leagues and alot of guys here are suggesting we can't have 2 unproven Q talents ok I can deal with that but my opinion is if that is the option then look at Knox and Resendes throughout camp and decide which is going to be better for the club.
This is all if of course they decide to keep Fullerton but again I trust JB I'm sure he'll make the right decision better him then me. I would hate to see another team snatch up Resendes and have it come back to haunt us.

I trust JB too.
Keep in mind that Knox is paired on the number1 line where he's expected to be a team player. The opportunities to dominate on his own with Dido and Liske out there are not as great as Resendes who has young Anthony and Sparling with him. Switch roles and Resendes doesn't look nearly as good and Knox looks better.
Knox, Dido, and Liske also appear to be struggling at finding each other. I'd like to hear some comments on last night's game, but even in practice they looked like they were getting in each others' way.

If JB could find a way to keep his 4 20's happy while evaluating them a bit longer into the season then maybe the situation works out on its own...Knox could very easily live up to his billing once he has some actual Q games under his belt ( Adapting to a higher level of play might actually be harder for him than Resendes...considering the higher expectations put on him). But on the other side of the coin Resendes is showing it now and from what I saw in just 1 game and have been reading on this board he has been one of the Dogs best forwards in camp. Same situation happened with Ian Girard the yr Moncton went for the Mem Cup....He was our leading scorer, top PK guy, and made an impact almost every shift ( Most Moncton fans were heartbroken to see him leave at Christmas). But he was basically an unknown 20 as per Resendes and with no Q experience. ( We were also hosting the Cup so Resendes situation with the dogs should have no bearing on keeping 2 non-Q 20's). As for last nights game...Gm's have been saying it all week." These are development games...a time to evaluate our talent" Dido and Liske have their spots already on the team...Knox maybe having a worse camp due to his linemates not working as hard. (One of Resendes linemates was Anthony I believe so their line is really trying hard to leave an impression on the coaching staff).

I just have a gut feeling that Fullerton will not be on this team not saying Resendes will be the guy to take the other 20 yr old spot but they will save the 20 yr old slot for someone other than a backup goaltender.

More entertaining than any game I went to first year. I will keep this simple again but cutting Resendes is going to be tough. I know that there are a ton of teams hoping we do. I don't care if this guy played for Hampton High last year he came to play here this year. His league might suck but the kid can play. He reminds of a mosquito in a tent and he is buzzing all around you driving you crazy but you just can't find him. I think that JB is thinking that if I get rid of this kid then I will have to play against him sometime and I do not want to do that either. Good to see these guys earning their big bucks to make decisions like this.

Knox and Resendes cannot play together on the same team as neither of them played in the Q last year ... one or the other must go .... they shouldn't have been playing in the same game last night but I guess the rules don't matter in pre-season. And I doubt you can trade Resendes as he cannot appear on your protected list (Knox was there first ... can't have both) ... he is signed to a training camp card but thats all ... so all you can do is release him. Knox does appear on your protected list so you can trade him if you want to keep Resendes ... or outright release Knox. Resendes was a little more involved last night ... but I think Knox is the better skater. Resendes played at a higher level last year than Knox did (USHL vs MJAHL) and so he will make the adjustment to the Q a little easier. Last night was Knox's very first Q game (bye bye NCAA eligibility) and so I expect with a few more games under his belt you'll start to see things from him that you are expecting to see. Both guys are alot like Mangan ... but both are better skaters.

I haven't been impressed with Knox yet at all at any practice, scrimmage, drill, etc. Not just when he is paired when Liske/Dido either. Anytime.
Right or wrong, this Resendes could become a fan favorite real fast. JB may want to consider not playing the guy Saturday at the home exhibition game and letting thousands of fans see him play. Especially if he is considering cutting Resendes. The uproar could be huge if the fans take to him. By not playing him it keeps most from having ever seen Resendes (most don't go to training camp/practices), and the team goes to Gagetown for the next week which gets him away from SJ again. He's said he wants the team picked by after our third exhibition game, which is onthe road in Lewiston. Thus by sitting Resendes Saturday he'd keep most Sea Dogs fans unaware the guy even exists, so if he has to be cut, most people would just go, "Huh? Who was Resendes? I never heard of him before so he couldn't have been too good."
If I was considering cutting the guy, thats what I'd do as coach. I'm devious though.

I think he might have brought Resendes in to push Knox...its just to bad for JB that Tony has out played knox in every game... I think if anything if fullerton doesn't sick on the team, then Resends hangs in for the first couple weeks of the season until JB picks up another 20 year old, or trades, cuts etc....cutting Resendes for nothing doesn't make a lot of sense...because he will get picked up by another team...

I think that Fullerton should be let go. This is the first year that you guys are on the same level as everyone else in the league, you have to have 3-20 yo's like everyone else. Having a 20 yo goalie this year, IMO, isn't a good idea. I think let the younger guys play. Keep Resendes.

Not going to re-hash the arguement of keeping Resendes instead of like Knox or Charland type thing. We should go with 3 20's up front IMO, whoever they may be. Whether or not we can keep both Resendes and Knox because of that rule could also play a huge role in this. Reading the rule as translated from French, it sure looks like we can't keep Knox and Resendes both, but it wouldn't be the first time something was lost in translation.
