I can't see much truth behind this rumour...............Sparling will not crack their top 2 lines and is far from a defensive player Last year in Halifax MacMIllian/Pridham/Voracek played against other teams top lines most of the time, while our "checking line" of Cote/Seymour/whoever played against the secondary lines. Sparling wouldn't be in Halifax's top 6 forwards, but it doesn't mean he'd have to play a defensive role.

Would be an extremely powerful "3rd" line. If that trade happened the amount of offense on the Moose starts to become ridiculous... Sparling coming to the Moose was talk about back before the draft and I would have thought the move would have been made then if it was happening. Since then the Moose have picked up a high end Euro forward in Knotek so things are pretty full up front. If that trade were to happen the Moose could end up with two 3rd year players (Smith and Cheremetiev) on the 4th line...

Any ideas on what type of return we might be able to get for Sparling?
Based on McCain's comments losing is not an option and I'm sure Halifax is gonna be making a big push this year so who would they give up?
Maybe Corsi and a swap of a couple picks? I dunno can't see Halifax trading away any of their top tier guys that's for sure tough to figure love to see them get a guy like Pridham but he's 20 so unless they unload Fullerton that ain't happening not that it would anyway.

I could see a multi-player/multi-team swap happening. There are Moosetalk rumors of a trade for defenseman Bourque from Shawi that make no sense, but then again why would we want him, unless we shipped out another one. Maybe Stich is included for Knotek and Fullerton for Pridham - JB's blockbuster. I got to watch Langan skate last night. Geezus he has magic hands

How do ya feel about his chances of making the team now?
I've seen him play and I think he could handle this level even this season just not sure if he would get the ice time he should get in order to develop properly tough one.
I think Halifax could maybe sure up their D alittle bit but it's not bad they only need to fix the goaltending and that appears to be a done deal pretty much from what I'm hearing.

How do ya feel about his chances of making the team now? I'm still not sold. He's still too small and too slow, but his vision, understanding of the game, and commitment to all areas of the ice are great. I think he's probably slotted for Weeks, but damn he's fun to watch. edit: I should add it was not an icetime where he was necessarily pushing himself hard.

I see were you get your handle It actually makes me laugh to think Halifax even wants Sparling. I'm having a hard time rationalizing any trades between us. The only player I can think of that would help you, that we'd bewilling to give up, is Fullerton, but he's not proven enough to convince anyone.

I'm being told that JB was looking for a 2nd RD pick during the draft for Sparling. So this maybe the reason why JB recently acquired Francis Guerette-Charland to fill a hole that will be left Sparlings departure just another thought. ;D

The only player I can think of that would help you, that we'd bewilling to give up, is Fullerton, but he's not proven enough to convince anyone. Fullerton is worse than the two goalies Halifax has now (well, maybe not Kennedy, but certainly worse than Yetman) plus with Pelletier coming in, Fullerton wouldn't even dress. When the Pelletier deal is completed, there is another player heading to Drummondville, and if it's PJ Corsi, then I could see the need for Sparling. They are pretty similkar players, and Sparling's bashers here, say the same things about him, that were said about Corsi when he came to Halifax, and Corsi was able to round out his game in the 2nd half last year. If the deal goes through, and Saint John recieves a player for Sparling, it would likely be Justin Pender. Pender would be you #4 defenceman, behind Grant, Sauve, and Stich. Play ahead of Rioux and probably knock McNeil off your team (I'd assume Amyot would be getting regular minutes. If Pender isn't the guy, and the deal does happen than I would think it'll be a draft pick for Sparling.

Sorry but Fullerton is better then Yetman to, right now anyway IMO.

I don't see them wanting Pender unless they are planning on dealing a defenseman at some point too.
I could see it happening for a draft pick but that just doesn't support McCain's comments about having a team that must make the playoffs
I think Fullerton played really solid last year or was it that Joyal and Barton were just that bad that it made Fullerton look better
