SYDNEY — The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles placed goaltender Chris Holden and defenceman Myles Micallef on waivers. Head coach and general manager Mario Durocher said he was trying to make a deal for both players to find them a place to play in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, but couldn’t swing a trade by Thursday’s 1 p.m. Atlantic deadline. The Eagles will now called up 16-year-old prospect Alex Veronneau to backup starter Olivier Roy. What's the purpose of letting Holden go? ? (other than the scare tactic for Roy

So who will be the new back up? I always thought Holden was a decent #2. Surely, you could have got something for him. (See Moncton with Wendall Vye)

I think its plain to see why Holden was let go..................not that I agree with it but...........most likely Veronneau needs to be around the team, practice, and maybe get 1-2 games before the season ends. He will need the experience for next season as Olivier Roy will be traded at the draft !...........My problem with this is...What if Olivier gets hurt between now and the playoffs ? Then we will be F#*KED

I think paul mac donald needs to clean house, bullshit coaching staff, out in the first round with nothing for next year and roy gone, our rink is that quiet and boring it`s unreal .BULLSHIT.

Maybe they could have got something for Holden if they hadn't waited so long?

If the Cats and Eagles meet in the first round it will probably be the best round of the playoffs! I like the Cats but the Eagles are no slouch and Roy can steal games as well. Its a shame that the playoff system is geared this way. Either way good luck the rest of the way.

Letting Holden go makes zero sense. This just confirms the roy to Lewiston at the draft rumors. Otherwise they would bring Veronneau up next year to back up Roy.

I wish we had waited to add a 19 year old backup goalie.. we could have had Holden for free

So after making a bunch of moves in an attempt to contend, Durocher plans to use a 16 YO with zero Q experience to backup Roy???
Wasn't Holden in the running as a possible 20 for next year? With Roy and Meilleur gone, I would have thought he was at least in the conversation.

Sorry F1sh but the words "Durocher plans" should not be used in the same sentence.
