Clarke and Duke arent expected to go in the 1st round... Dillman is in his 3rd year in the league, he should have jumped up to the junior level, he was ready, but for whatever reason he decided to play Midget AAA for a 3rd season and in my opinion he has regressed. Bathurst wanted to keep him up with them in the 2nd half but he declined. Hes a less skilled Justin Munden, great kid, lots of leadership qualities, but playing a 3rd year in midget hockey is going to hurt him long term. Personally I think Lewis is a far better prospect, its not even close really. Jordan Cox isnt drafted, he is a rookie in Midget but hes already 17...his skating is lacking and he doesnt have enough talent to be a skilled guy in junior, and hes likely too small to play a banging/crashing role...He wont be drafted, likely invited to camp as a Free Agent. So what do you think O'Brien will do next year... he's a 3rd year midget guy as well, seems to dominate, and has had a few opportunities to stick in the Q but I don't think has had the desire to yet. Think he'll stick around a put up numbers next year? Could he be an asset (not necessarily THE asset) that Russel may see interest in if Bathurst wants to move up from 5th overall in the draft... O'Brien had a hat trick today vs Miramichi, the kid is unreal, he made Rouyn-Noranda, stayed for 2 games, played 2nd line and 1st PP and was playing with Gabriel Levesque and than he bolts back home to play a 3rd year in AAA...I believe his parents want him to finish High School back home. Bathurst acquired him in the Champion deal, he reported to Bathurst for 3 games over Christmas, but Bathurst knew he was going back home after that. From what I heard Moncton wanted to keep O'Brien around as a 16 year old, but he left camp as well...so he is working on his 3rd team and he has 5 career games played. Some of the stuff he can do on the ice you just cant teach, A+ Hockey sense and awareness and he has lethal skills in terms of vision and shot, there is no doubt he will be a big time scorer in the Q, but he had legit NHL draft upside, he has kind of pissed that away by playing in a watered down AAA league back him, for god sakes he averaged almost 3 goals per game in that league. To answer your question, his plan (well more so his parents) was to finish his 17 year old season back home and than report to the Q at 18...he wasnt trying to pick and choose which team, but he wanted to stay back in St-John's to finish up his high school, so he will be done that this year so there is no reason for him not to be in Bathurst next season.

I wish I could go,Plan is for Dillman to stay in the Q in Bathurst this coming season but who knows. I think I saw Jordan Cox in a game in Truro this season when he was called up from what I saw he is a good little player definetly would be a good pick for the Moose, to add some scoring but does not lack on the defensive side in my Opinion at all!!!

Went to 2 games today, nice rink and good hockey. Cole Harbour had lots of chances but the Mirimichi goalie played well. Cole Harbour had a goal called back because the 6th attacker went on before the goalie left the ice on a delayed penalty. Shortly before that they had one stopped on the goal line so could have been a different game. Trey Lewis played a great game, first 2 goals where a result of shots from the point by him. He looked composed with the puck and a level higher then most of the players out there. Burke made some things happen and looked good. I was also impressed by Tyler Doyle of Cole Harbour. He is a little small at 5'8" but he hit made some great plays with the puck. Sort of reminded me of Boudreau a bit. Is he projected to be picked?
The St John's Halifax game was a barnburner. (Canbeer you missed a great finish) Lot of great goals, although I felt the St John's goalie looked really weak. O'Brien is the real deal, Bathurst has a got a good one there I think. From an entertainment perspective it was truly a great hockey game to watch.

I agree, I went to some games thorugh-out the NSMMHL playoffs and he stood out to me too. Judging by stats he didn't put up huge numbers in the reg. season but stepped it up a bit in the post season. Although, i noticed him for a pretty good two-way game - played PK and PP, hit, blocked shots and won faceoffs. Too bad he is only 5'8" though...

Only went to the Cole Harbour Miramchi game today but have to agree with Webber, Trey Lewis played some good hockey. After my comments yesterday of wanting to trade him. Not a chance today. His Goal on the power play seemed to be a bullet. I may be exaggerating but nice shot. He did get at least one penality but in his defence looked like he logged alot of icetime.
As for Cole Harbour looks like they don't know how to roof a puck, or use their top corners. I have seen both their games so far, and 90% of their shots dont barely leave the ice surface.

I was looking at the Nova Scotia Atlantics Major Midget Website. I see Burke is not doing much only 1 assist in 3 games. There. And he never had much of a finals vs Pictou. Think is going to hurt is draft stock?

It was good to see some good hockey today... going to be a long off season. Also good to meet Webber - I see i did miss a good ending.
Lots of interesting to see young players and trying to gauge those players especially when looking at a 15 year old prospect vs. 17 year olds in the league.
Cole Harbour vs. Miramichi was closer then the 4-0 Miramichi score. Lewis played very well and it seemed a big percentage of Miramichi's chances he was a big part of... interesting seeing his tough, rugged game with the Moose vs. how he can control and influence things offensively with kids his own age. His team had a couple solid D. Hache was a good size 15 year old that looks good and I though Stock looked solid as well. Up front I thought Blais looked good but he's already 17.
For Cole Harbour I liked the Clarke - Burke combo up front... both guys have good size. I thought Clarke had a bit better game though he is a year old. Burke I found turned up too many shots to try and make the perfect pass... got frustrated easily. Duke looked decent on D.
I thought the second game was much better and I missed the Hali comeback. It was a good physical game. I don't know if Halifax has many ranked guys (high upside skilled guys) but they seemed to have good hard working leader types. Campbell and Zafiris seemed to have good games. Halifax seemed to be a bit older. I liked the small Dman Brown... will he be drafted this year?
O'Brien looked good for St. John's... great with the puck and a great shot.
It was good hockey. Lewis played very well.

Think is going to hurt is draft stock? Today was the first time I had seen him but I didn't really feel like I was watching a guy that's about to be drafted around 5th overall in the Q. Seems to have a lot of tools but didn't shine. He's definitely a big kid for 15 and looked strong. He made some good passes and was trying to create but there were a few times when he should have just took the shot himself.
