We cut him to keep Bourret But Bourret is a year older... sometimes better to keep the 17 year old and try to get them some experience in the Q and send the 16 year old back to play a ton in AAA. Mooseheads kept 17 year old Hannay, had a solid camp, over 16 year old Lewis, had a very good camp, and it was great for both players. Hannay ended up winning "most improved" for the Moose and Lewis won D of the year in midget.

Bourret is an undersized 17 year-old offensive D. Sock is good in his own end. Bourret had a horrible camp while Sock was good the whole way through.

I went and watched the Cole Harbour/St.John's game today. It was all SJ, winning 5-1. O'Brien with I believe 2G 2A. He's a dominant player no doubt, but why he's playing at that level and not challenging himself a bit more at major junior I have no idea. Well I do, high school, but is it so important to finish it in NFLD. I don't want to rag on the kid, he and his family obviously have reasons, and they're nobodys business. It just seems like he's wasting his time play AAA. After watching him for the first time, I'm not sold on his skating. Its not that he's a bad skater, I just wonder how he'll adjust to the speed of the Q. He doesn't have a powerful stride or a smooth skating style. But the kid can score, no denying that.
As for Taylor Burke, man, kid is huge for 15. He looks like he's 18 physically out there. He didn't do a whole lot, but Cole Harbour as a team didn't do much either. He certainly seems to have all the tools and looks like he could project to be a great major junior player.

I went to the halifax game then stayed for the Cole harbour game too. the whole point was to watch Burke and see how he is. First time I seen the kid play. I had my eye on him and was looking for him, but if i wasn't and didn't know the hype about him he wouldn't have stood out. Watching him ever time he hit the ice, i did end up seeing some up side. His size is great, he skates above average, and he played both ways really well. But if i didn't have him under the microscope that stuff wouldn't have stuck out to me. I guess what i'm saying is for a player that is rated top 5 for the draft he left me wanting more from his play. Now for the rest of the players i seen. First I have to say in my mind Sock is the best player i seen today. He and Trey Lewis are a force on the blue line, no dought the best pairing in the turney. But Sock is the guy i want to talk about. Never out of position and made the smart passes and had a great shoot. Really really liked this kid. Thats saying a lot because i'm the type of fan who likes the scorers. Another player that i liked and feel hes a second or third rounder is Malone. This kid falls any further then the third hes a huge steal. Now not sure about him and O'Brien might have made him look better then he is but Power from St John looked good. Not sure if hes drafted either if not good pick thrid or forth. O'Brien was the only one who really looked like a men among boys. every time he had the puck something happened. Tomorrow i think NB is the team to beat. Best team game, shity goalie. Halifax could've been there instead(hit the post 3time and once the puck sat on the line). Newfoundland has the best one line by far. If NB shuts down that one line its there to win.

Yah Burke never made a good show for everyone that went to see him! only 1 point in 4 games. Think he will be dropping some in the draft coming this june.

I went to the St. John's vs. Cole Harbour game today. Zac O'Brian certainly lived up to his billing. He scored some nice goals and made some beautiful setups to Power who shanked a couple before finally putting one in. Power can do some nice things with the puck too but he certainly benefits from playing on the same line as O'Brian. I watched for Burke through the game but he didn't do too much to stand out. (other than his sheer size) I hope the Fog Devils win tomorrow. Unfortunately I can't make it to the game.

I know I said Burke didn't wow me yesterday but i should say it didn't seem like he had much to play wiht either. I do think if you put him with better players he would benfit a lot more. Now i know that could be said about almost any player but he was the only one on his line doing anything most of the time. Now back to Sock who owns him anyways? I don't think he should be in midget. I felt he played his postion better then some Q leaguers do. One other thing does anyone know how to get the full ISS list of players or at lest the top maybe 30?

As posted above, Saint John cut Sock to keep Bourret. Sock was a 16 year-old defensive defenseman who had the best camp of all non-returnees and Bourret was fugly in camp. Next year he'll be with the team no matter what. He played 1 Q game and went after an opponent that ran St-Laurent

I must disagree with you about Sock having the best camp of all the non returnees, Durepos was by far the best

While I was watching the games yesterday and checking to see who was who on the ice. Matching numbers to the program the one thing I wish they had was if the players were drafted by teams or not. So I have to ask this question too. Does anyone have a list of the players in the turny that are drafted to Q-teams/ JrA teams?

Maybe they're more than a one-line team.

Was at all the Cole Harbour games when I should've been visting the st johns games or the Halifax games. Burke did nothing to impress me this tournament, luckly he had a stellar year, so this shouldnt change much. O'Brien was one to watch, as well as Boutilier from Halifax. O'Brien has already been drafted. Does anyone know if Boutilier was drafted last season? He is a second or third year I beleive. Lewis is also a force, I enjoyed his game play. Whats his deal reguarding the Q?? I wish we had more NB and NFLD coverage around the Halifax area. Brown also looked good, he should go atleast 3rd to 5th round.
