How is that? He's a player I'm sure the team is interested in, but unless you have inside info others don't have, his name is only being thrown around as a "possibility" right now. Besides all that everyone over looked the rest of the thread. I asked a few question there anyone want to take a kick at who we might go after in the 2nd or someone that might fall from the 1 st to the second or someone who is underrated and slip into the 1st? Anyone mostly Lala I guess you seem to know a lot about the players. Lala already did that a few weeks ago. qmjhleast.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=mooseheads&action=display&thread=115319th post down on the page.

Must have missed that all together. One week away from when the trades can be announced and still no juicy rumors. For any team really lot of people saying they hear this and that but no one else is saying yeah I heard that too. So the rumors don't have much legs really. Let's get all the rumors out there see what people are hearing.

For trade talk... what are some of the thoughts of who will be in the mix for the top 5 teams?

For trade talk... what are some of the thoughts of who will be in the mix for the top 5 teams? So hard to tell at this point in the year. But if I had to guess I think you're looking at Saint John, PEI, Montreal, Rimouski and Lewiston IMO. After that I think you'll see teams like Bathurst, Moncton, Shawinigan. But again, it's so early, and so much can change.

Yeah looks like Rimouski will be a good team and with the additions it sounds like both teams are making PEI and Bathurst could be in the top 5... top 8 anyways. Lewi was scoring a lot by the end of last year but was allowing a ton of goals as well... with Roy and a bit of help on D they could be up there. I think Saint John has some vital players to replace and Moncton will lose a ton both look a bit more mid pack to me at this point. It is early but you can see a few teams that look like they should be solid could really use a goalie... could make for good return.

Saint John is definitely losing some key guys with Hoffman, Peterson and Cousineau all graduating, and Sauve being AHL bound. However they have great depth. They have a lot of young guys waiting in the wings. In addition to still having Kirkpatrick you'd have to expect Galiev and Jurco will be better and more consistant next year, along with Huberdeau, Phillips, Anthony, Gauthier. Also young guys in Aiden Kelly, Scott Oke will make the team and get regular icetime. It's impossible to replace the production of Hoffman and Peterson alone, but by committee, they'll be close. On defense they're still strong with Despres, Beaulieu, Durepos, Gagne, Bourret all returning. Their goaltending is the glaring weakness obviously. But otherwise I think they have a top 3 team (on paper) to start the year.

Offensively I can see a number of their second year player stalling in their production and the team seeing a decent drop in goals scored. I imagine if you look at Jurco, Galiev, Philips and their points that Petersen and/or Hoffman were a good size part of many players' production. I just don't think it will be easy for a lot of them to pick up where they left off. Tough to gauge but that's my guess on them next year.

I know the rankings have Gamelin at #11 and Hudon at #13 now Matteau appears to be heading south of the border but even still don't you see Hudon & Gamelin both going by the 10th pick? Not suggesting you wouldn't be trading down and staying in the top 10 I'm just curious what your thoughts are ... I was thinking the Sags might take both of those players at #3 and #6. Maybe they even end up with Luca Ciampini and Gamelin although I think BC is going to draft Ciampini. I don't see Hache, Fraser, or Turnbull going before Gamelin & Hudon personally.

If matheson is still there the Moose would pick him at number 2, if he is gone they likely move down, Rimouski, Montreal and Chicoutimi could be players as they have multiple picks in the 1st round, IMHO.

Now let me get this straight, a group of qualified hockey people headed up by Patrick Charbonneau claimed to have watched some 3000 games of draftable players with Patrick having watched over 300 games alone and they have Ciampini as the second overall pick and now the posters who were saying you take the best player available PERIOD are now speaking with forked tongue you don't take the second best player, whats going on here, is there a double standard in play, I do see the Moose following what ALL the posters want (ie) taking the second best player available Luca Ciampini with their 2nd overall pick PERIOD. One has to remember this group is not operating by remote control, there assessment for the most part is actually watching the games and their input has to be valued over an individual who has a personal opinion and I'm very aware that nothing is perfect.

Not everyone has Ciampini ranked #2 though ... some may have him ranked #1 while others may have him ranked #5. I think your taking your Central Scouting List a little to literal. Patrick Walsh is ranked #24 and assuming SJ picks at #18 I would love to see him still on the board.

Oh I think you're absolutely right Matheson is the guy the Moose want which is in part why BC is trying to get something out of Halifax for the swap of picks.
