Alex Beaton, local guy who can log 60 points or more, for a 4th ou 5th round pick. I could see this happening. Not really "local" - he's from Sackville, NS which is four hours away - but I like him and could see him fitting in with the Eagles. He's a decent scorer, as you said, seems hard working, willing to block shots from the games I remember him playing here. What more can you tell us about his style?

If that old rumor and Lala are right, you have to wonder even more about Mario's credibility because in the Herald article he said that Horyl and MacDougall had 2 guaranteed overage spots. I just presumed he was talking about his Eagles' team. Last year we had a problem finding true quality leadership that set the bar at a very high level on a consistent basis. Where do fans see the leadership coming from this year? As someone else suggested in this thread, I think it might be time for Morgan Ellis to take the torch. Someone sure as hell better, because a repeat of last year's lack of leadership should not be an option. If Ellis is truly ready, it'd be nice to have a very solid two-year captain..... get a semblance of consistency going again re the leadership of this team. We used to have a glut of captain-type guys all on the roster at once (Ouellet, Slaney, Culligan, Sheppard, etc)... last year their absences were glaring.

It would be great if Lagace didn't sign and we were able to trade him for a high pick and a player but if he plays in the league next year I'm pretty sure we have to pay another 1st to the Sags. I agree it'd be great if he came back as a 20 so that we can recover some of the value that we paid to get him but why trade him now? Seems to me we get almost double what Mario's expecting right now if we wait until the January deadline and then we also get 20-25 games of what could be a top overager in the league. I guess it would also depend on who the younger player was. Just our luck he would get hurt and get us nothing.

He's not lightning quick, but has above average speed and decent hands. He works hard and he's pretty good on PK. Great positioning. Biggest flaws are his lack of strengt and he's very streaky. He gets out muscled by a lot of d-men. He can look like Crosby for 4 games and then going 8 games without scoring one.

Thats the thing that frustrated me with Beaton when he played Midget...he would dangle the whole team one shift and than be lost the rest of the game.
I figured he would top out at a 60 point 2nd line Centre because of his streakyness...he has great hands, super skills, but his streakyness and lack of strength/speed kept him from being an elite scorer in this league.

According to capgeek.com, Lagace has signed with Buffalo. I don't think this was ever confirmed in this thread.

Interesting to see that we will aquire a 10 yr old goalie for a 5th in 2011 and we must have traded MacDougall for that 2nd rounder.
Any idea who that goalie is? My guess is Nadeau. Unless a 5th is not enough for him in the case I'm not sure.

And here's a couple goalies who are 91 DOB's and should be available...
Guillame Nadeau in Bathurst if Roy goes there.
Antigonish native Derick Tait is behind Clermont in Gatineau and both are 91's.
Shawinigan also has 2 91's in Girard and Lacerte.
So my guess is 1 of Nadeau, Tait, or Lacerte.

Girard is off limits...and the only 1 of those goalies id deal a 5th for is MAYBE Nadeau.
There is also Mickael Audette in RN
