Wow, you had to go hunting through the CB Post to find a letter to the editor from 08, to say that our building is falling apart. I have a question ... have you ever been to C200? And why in gods name would they let Truro or New Glasgow co-host the World Juniors?

LOL... Man what are you smoking? 1... That cbpost writer is probably an old bag who has two hearing aids because i don't find anything wrong with the sound system. The lightings there outside, maybe just use a different type of fixture thats brighter. "Ok so your Media is crap and outdated. Thats great for your main newspaper. Well thats ok we can use the Chronicle Herald to cover the EVENT" And people are lying about the condition. Cape Breton Post should be sued for lying about a building thats in perfect condition. So guess we buy a big pack of light bulbs at COSCO and where good to go. You got a COSCO? If You don't I can pick them up in Halifax/Dartmouth COSCO on the way to the Memorial CUP.2... The buildings not in that bad of shape. We are obviously moving up the ladder after helping host the world juniors, hosted the draft, etc. The building is not in bad shape.....guess you should tell that to the workers this summer who are wasting their time trying to fix something thats not broke. What a waste of money...man they need to stop working on fixing stuff3... Not that I think we will get it because of the on ice product, but off ice I think we have an advantage because of how big our tourism industry is. People will be attracted to Cape Breton because they are every year for multiple reasons. They can play it off pretty good. You may have a case with that one. Although can't see April May being your peak months. Who knows on that one.4... Your an idiot, and they are doing reno's, to us fans, the only reason we WONT get it, is the on ice product. As for the Idiot comment. LOL. What Reno's are they doing to the Fans, like Make Overs and dental work. Why do the fans need Reno's. Or did you mean doing Reno's to the Building.... but why are they doing Reno's to the building... YOU SAID THAT THE C200 WAS IN GOOD SHAPE. MUST BE JUST PUTTING IN A NEW JUMBO TRON.

Its not like there are huge holes in the roof and major cracks up the wall.

At least the Screaming Eagles are taking steps to try and get the Mem Cup. There are teams out there that are unable to host and not willing to "try". The renovations will help not only the team, but the community as well.

The renovations will help not only the team, but the community as well. And which teams are these who arent 'trying' or 'willing' to host?? There are markets in this league who will never be able to host the Mem Cup and there is nothing they can do about it no matter how hard they try. Just like there are markets in the WHL and OHL who will never host as well.

I used to think CB had one of the worst rinks in the league. I was naive. Even pre-renovations, we have one of the better rinks. www.qmjhlarenaguide.com/Check out some of those "rinks". It'll give you a whole new appreciation for The Nest.

C200 has some of the worst ice you will ever play on though ! When guys from all over the Country would rather play in the Pierplex , New Waterford , Dominion and the Centenial Arena's when here for the Vincee Ryan Tournament rather than our Big Rink , then that tells you all you need to know !

Quality of ice is hard to come by. Some of the best and newest rinks in the NHL have brutual ice. The thing about bad/good ice. Is both teams play on the same sheet of ice. If the arena was the temperature that was needed to have good ice, the fans would be complaining it was too cold all the time. Until you have been to some of the "Barns" in the league, don't complain about the C200!

I don't remember being cold at Rexall Place and the Best Players in the World say it's the best ice anywhere . Ask Teemu Selanne what he misses most about Winnepeg and right after the Fans his next response is the ice !

It is no secret that the ice at the Centre is the worst in the Q. It is also by a longshot the worst in the CBRM. The rink staff at the Centre take 0% pride in getting the ice to a respectable level. Furthermore, most of the rinks that have bad ice is related to taking it in and out for basketball, concerts etc. Prime example, MSG in New York. The best sheet of ice in the world is in a heated rink.(Edmonton)

The ice in edmonton is not nearly what it once was, and the Oilers have even said that. When it comes to the inside of arena's in the Q, there are far more worse arena's then the C200. Brandon got the 2010 Mem Cup and their rink is very blah inside and out.

twogirlsoneboy, you hit the nail on the head. Good ice requires extra effort and pride on the part of C200 staff which is evident in regular shaving of the ice so the ice doesn't become too thick and not freeze properly. There are also rumors about some short cuts being taken when the pipes were laid to save some money, way back when(?).
The Eagles management or coaches should not have to fight with staff as in the past for regular maintenance of the ice surface. We all remember a letter a few years ago about the poor quality of the ice that seemed to generate a response.
