Jack, I read the word jokingly also, but I just wondered if it was necessary or wise to say it? In one part of the article he says how important this decision is because of the Memorial Cup but in the same article he jokes about the abilities of a member of the coaching staff. Even if it is a joke, it seems demeaning to Blair who's been with the Eagles for many seasons. It is kind of ironic that Mario used the expression, "At the worst", because many fans honestly feel that, many "the worst" decisions have already been made. I will try to lighten up a bit, however. I look at is as a "boss" making a light joke about one of his employees.....working in office environments those things are common place and from my experience Mario joking about Blair just shows how important he views his role and how others(see: here) seem to have already forgot about his place within the organization.

I don't think BearCat had much to do with the defensive end of the Bench, nor did Mario...that was Hanna's deal... They need a defensive guy for that position...

My vote from day one was Shawn........ Fingers crossed Your thinking of Norm Ferguson who was helping Ken call the games. The Norm their talking about for the coaching job is Norm Batherson. I hope MacKenzie gets the job. From what I remember he was a defensive minded coach so that would fit into what we need here if Mario is indeed running the PP and the forwards with Bearcat being more of a " Rah Rah" guy and the coach that the players look to for advice. God knows with Mario !

According to Mario in the Post, “Hopefully Friday we’re going to be able to announce something,” said Durocher, Wednesday evening, adding he’ll make the announcement no later than this weekend.
I was just wondering how they would choose to do it. I wouldn't be surprised to see the story broken in the Herald, like many other stories were this past year!

Heard from rink staff that the new coach was at C200 on Friday with his family. He was in meeting with Macdonald and left in the afternoon. He said it wasnt Mackenzie or Batherson. Any names? ??

Eagle and GIANT radio are throwing around the name Kevin Higo.
He was an assistant coach in the WHL with Moose Jaw last year, a similar market to Cape Breton I'd guess.
Way back in 01 and 02 he was head coach with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the Alberta Jr A League. Fort Mac being another community with major Cape Breton connections.
The radio stations are reporting that Eagles president Paul MacDonald has neither confirmed nor denied that this guy is their choice, and said the team will have more to say on it this coming week.
Personally I had never heard of this guy until now. He seems a bit off the usual beaten path, which perhaps and hopefully indicates that the team did its homework in the form of a pretty extensive search for the right man for the job.
