A very disappointing 2-1 shootout loss to Cape Breton tonight. The Moose should have won this game. They widely outplayed CB for the first two periods but just couldn't put the puck in the net. The CB goalie played very well too. Then in the 3rd period the Moose got in penalty trouble with 4 straight against them. Cape Breton tied the game on one of their man advantages. Bety and Lemieux played really well killing penalties earlier in the game. There was one Eagle man advantage when Cape Breton hardly got out of its own end for the whole two minutes thanks to a relentless forecheck by Bety, Lemieux and later Desjardins. Delmas played the first half and I don't remember one tough save that he had to make. Terenzio came in for the second half and made a couple of beauty saves. He really didn't have much of a chance on the tieing goal as he was screened by a crowd in front. Andrew Ryan was noticeable tonight on the PK with Randell and at even strength. I could have sworn that Bety had the "C" on his sweater at the start of the game but when he came out in the 3rd, no letter.

....Andrew Ryan should be on this team! Desmarais looked good to me as well. Bety did have a C on but I didn't notice it gone after the 2nd.

Who really cares if the Mooseheads wins or not in pre-season ! I do not, as long as they are playing sound hockey and improving in all aspects of the game and I think they are doing that.

The played ok but just couldn't put anything together around the net. The Moose made their goalie look good in the first period missing some easy goals (a couple posts and missed open nets... should have been 2 or 3 to nothing) and in the 2nd and 3rd Lacerte played well.
That being said the Moose goalies also played well. Delmas wasn't tested much but Terenzio made several nice saves and killed some big penalties when CB was pressing. That paddle save and the glove save on Shaw were pretty sweet. The game seemed to be mostly controlled by the Moose but some calls and non-calls got CB back in it late. How that slew-foot on Abeltshauser sending him into the boards isn't a penalty I'm not sure.
The 4th line didn't get much ice with all the penalties and it being close but they were fun to watch (Warner-Ryan-Davis). Warner and Davis were trying to run everything over and Ryan really had a solid game and showed some good skill. I'm not sure how he's going to get icetime but he played well and is apparently on the team.
Abeltshauser I thought played well tonight.
Gelinas is really starting to play well... I like the energy of Desjardins-Andrews-Ashley but it doesn't seem to lead to anything. Anyways the lines were definitely a little different tonight. It would be nice to see Grant and Randell get going a bit as both have been quiet offensively in camp. The PP though did look pretty good at times and had lots of scoring chances. Bety and Lemieux were a force on the PK.
Not sure where they're going to put all of these forwards hearing who has made the team. I feel for some of the 18 years olds that may not even find themselves on this team... and possibly for some of the players that find themselves on this team but have issues getting icetime. I certainly hope a guy like Boudreau doesn't find himself as a healthy scratch more than a handful of time this year... he's been one of my favorites in camp this year and I think could really put up some good numbers in this league.
But as for right now the scoring is still a bit MIA... but at least they're getting a lot of chances.

I thought Desmarais played well, showed poise etc- he is IMO better off going back to midget and playing top pairing minutes and coming back next year and looking all the better for it.

I agree with the icetime thing...its not that Ryan has played badly, or doesnt deserve to make the team, he does...its just going to be tough to find everyone icetime and I have a feeling Boudreau may suffer because of it, because I doubt they are going to sit Turbide...and if Ryan is on the team than I dont see a point in having Souligny here as he for sure wont get into many games. About Terenzio's paddle save...it was a highlight reel stop but he fucked up playing the 1 on 1 with the guy, got caught completely out of position and had to make a miracle do or die save. Terenzio will never be a Corey Crawford type mechanical butterfly goalie, but he is also super aggressive and he is going to get burned once the skilled guys realize he bites on every single move. The kid has great reflexes and hes quick, but he commits too early. He likely hasnt had a goalie coach, so working with someone everyday should benefit him.

I agree with lala that Desmarais has outplayed Bishop. Also agree that it's probably the best thing for him to get top minutes for another year.
The Gelinas/Grant/Ciampini line played great tonight and created lots of chances. They work well together and Gelinas and Grant in particularly look like they have good chemistry together. Ciampini had that puck upstairs on that goal before I could even see the pass coming, real pretty set-up.
Warner and Davis know they're ass is/was on the line this weekend and they didn't scrap. That surprised me.

Or, you keep him with the thought that Clarke doesn't work out and get's moved at Christmas. if Clarke keeps up his chickenshit routine he'll be on the injury list long before christmas. someone is going to cheapshot him bigtime for his antics. don't get me wrong, he's playing smarter hockey by staying out of the box but what he's doing now is going to catch up with him.

Go Moose Go looking forward to hearing game recaps after tonight's game and how the players look. it was a similar story to a lot of games last season, they played very good hockey for 55 minutes and then shit the bed in the last 5.
