Vuic has fit in pretty nicely for the Mooseheads. Yes, for certain teams those players can be buried due to depth and fill a role. But do you honestly think Vuic's presence protects Drouin in any way because at this level and at this time of year I think it's obvious the goon role simply gets lost in the shuffle due to the talent level of the teams remaining after round 1. What role does Vuic play on this years Eagles team? Id like Lyle and Lindsay and the elements they bring on the bottom 6 of this team then a Vuic any day. the goons fight the goons...always have and always will. I'm not sure why people can't get that into their heads...in Bathurst this year, Vuic fought Grundy for a sideshow and they were both ejected after the fight.....guys like that do nothing to protect the top guys, as they are not on the ice with them. Unless you have a talented guy who can fight, he won't be out there with the top guys, so basically a waste of a spot.

I wouldn`t take Lindsay or (sub in any marginal grinding Q player) over a guy like Vuic... or DiPaulo... or whoever.
It is comforting(?) knowing that if another team have a guy who is physically trying to intimidate or run around and hit guys, we have a big guy on our team that can do something about it - even if its just a staged fight. At least the other guy answers to someone.
It`s nice seeing Vuic out there late in a blowout too. Guys are less fiesty in scrums and around the net when Vuic is standing there.
It is not a useless role by any means, and it also provides entertainment for fans as well.

Vuic didn't even play last night
we lost with a bit of class... no need for a senseless linebrawl to end the season
as for the CB- Gatineau series.... nobody predicted it would wind up being the most lopsided of all the opening round series..... that's gotta be disappointing as an Eagle fan and tarnsih the great strides made during the regular season at least somewhat

Vuic is a sideshow that didn't seem to keep anyone less fiesty.

Hey Johnny ....do 2 of the 4 - 2nd round picks become 19 year old defencemen plucked from a contender who have no room for them as 20's ? At least 1 u would have to figure until they see what Hache's future brings . Leveille is not ready to play with a Bell , Lalonde or Nosella in hopes of being a #1 pairing . I would not be shocked to see Bureau dealt as you have stated and one of the picks be another shot at an 18 year old Goalie but I just got this gut feeling that he gets at least until Christmas to make what may be his final case for the #1 Job .

I would have to agree with Hal in the fact that I think Bureau gets until christmas to show he has what it takes to become a #1 in the league. If not I see them moving to acquire a bona fide #1 at the deadline.

And pointing out 1 specific moment where a fight happens while he is playing is pointless. Am I to assume there was no fighting or chippy play in Detroit when they had Probert? That is the reasoning you are using. We have won many games by a wide margin, and I have seen lots of chippy play quiet down when he sticks his nose into scrums. I have seen it happen many times - not just Vuic, but with tough guys - more often than seeing big fights breaking out that`s for sure. You may not have a use for a guy like him, but I prefer having a guy like that over a Max Lindsay by a wide margin.

According to the article in the Cape Breton Post today , we have 2 - 1st's and "6" - 2nd's...SIX ! You have gotta think an 18 year old and a 19 year old Defenceman are coming this way at The Q Draft.....dontcha ? 8 Picks in the first 36 ? Are some of them already bodies currently playing in Chicoutimi or Drummondville ?

Well that ended with a thud. Wtf happened to you guys?
I was almost predicting you would win the series. Good season, but man, bad taste to have in your mouth all summer.

Paulyboy your a god damn idiot. Plain and simple. Were early in a rebuild and we "need" all of those things you mentioned? NO SHIT! If we had all of that, we'd be challenging the top 4 teams. Your a god damn moron.. Its called a rebuild for a reason. If you think this season was such a bust, your crazy. Dumont turned this team around. It's not going to happen over night. Gatineau is a very good 8th seed. It will be interesting to see how they match up against a top tier team. And I have to mention, its pretty nice to have a coach that does not make excuses for the performance and just tells it how it is. Its pretty refreshing. Turn our heads to the draft/trade period, improve, and hope darcy/hache returns! He does that on purpose to get a reaction out of the ones that called him down before. There is no other explanation for it. There is little doubt that he has been motivated by something to call the team , and especially Defence down all season.

You may not have a use for a guy like him, but I prefer having a guy like that over a Max Lindsay by a wide margin. They had Probert because he could fight ... and score. 29 goals in 87-88 ... and played a regular shift. Enforcers don't necessarily eliminate chippy play ... but if you touched Yzerman in any sort of overly physical way ... you were going to be dealing with big Bob. That is no longer the case in the game. If somebody runs Drouin ... clean hit but very physical ... Vuic will really have nothing to say about it. He can try ... but the guy he is after can just ignore him and then Vuic is useless. That's not Vuic's fault ... it is just where the game has gone. I heard somebody else say it on here ... and I agree that the game is moving toward more focus on team toughness than on a 3 shift goon (no offense to Vuic ... we have one also). You need to have 5 or 6 guys that are willing to drop the gloves or defend a teammate from a dirty hit ... the response must be immediate ... not six shifts later.
