@monctonwildcats Wildcats added free agent defenceman Brandon Lukezic, 18, today. 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds. Saginaw OHL 5th round draft pick. Never played in the O tho, Hodge now saying tesink or Mann's place now in jeopardy. www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=216807It would make no sense to keep Tesink as a #7 guy...though based on stats the new guy looks like nothing special...combined 5 points the last 2 years in Jr.A. I assume the forward will fill the Haas type of role and not be more than a fourth liner either.

Really don't like cutting Jacob instead of Curtis. Jacob proved last year that he can step into the line up and be effective.

Is Lukezic the one who lives in Michigan and went to the Hill Academy?

Curtis is a great kid , but his play just isn't that of a major junior calibre player. Rumble really liked him last season because of work ethic and heart but that can only get you so far. He didn't even stand out for the Commandos last season. We may not be the toughest team but we have kids like Cormier , Olivier and Klebanskj that can stick up for teammates. According to a couple of people south of the border , Malatesta has some spunk too.

Not sure if it was mentioned or not, but Kyle Tibbo has also made the team ... which may have had a bigger impact on Jacob being cut than Curtis did. As for Jacob, according to this morning's A-N he is on the fence between playing for Dieppe or back to the Flyers - will decide in next 48 hours. Sounds like he is concerned that Dieppe may not have room for him to play a top 6 role - they have plenty of returning vets this year. A-N also stated Talbot-Tassi's arrival is imminent, and that with the addition of both he and Lukezic, that both Mann and Tesink could be gone.

Based on what I saw during the MHL playoffs last season I can't say I'm totally opposed to Tibbo getting that spot. Rumble is a huge fan of his compete level so that obviously helped his cause as well. Nonetheless, it would have to be considered a pretty massive disappointment if Jacob spent his 17 YO season back in Midget...
Not the end of the world for Tesink, but that has to be awfully disappointing for Mann. Decided to play in a game thinking he probably had a real good shot at making the team and that's definitely not so much the case anymore.

That's pretty tough for Mann. I wonder if (a) any promises were made to try and find another place in the Q for him if he got squeezed off the roster, and (b) if maybe he didn't have much in the way of NCAA opportunities anyway. I seem to recall that Division 2 doesn't have as strict eligibility requirements either?

So if Tesink doesn't make the team does he serve the rest of his 5 game suspension if he is not on the roster? Or does he need to be part of the active roster to serve his suspension. Its not a big deal but I'm curious how that works. They would basically have to call him up at some point in the season to serve his suspension so that they can put him in the lineup later on. Or if they don't use him at all he would serve his suspension during the exhibition games next year which they would want to see him play.

My guess is that Tesink will be listed on the roster until the suspension is served and then be sent down. That will avoid him sitting out games if he's called up this season.

The first five games of the season would be his suspension.
I remember a couple of years ago Sawyer Hannay got a two game suspension but it was served at Vancouver camp.
