Looks like a good draft day for Halifax, Hard to part with Ciampini and Ryan but we are now set with 20's unless Weegar gets sent back which I just don't see happening!

Gabriel Morin, forward, 6-1 175 lbs from a high/prep school in Quebec. BTW; I don't know the odds of Marino reporting here, but a quick evaluation of him:Kirk Luedeke @kluedeke29 ยท 53m Halifax pick John Marino, D very heady with slick set of hands...skating just OK & lean frame, but great vision, instincts. moosefan_WillyPalov

Louick Marcotte just went to Gatineau for 2 2nd round picks. If that's fair market price, a 3rd and a 5th for Ryan doesn't look as bad.

With their last pick the Mooseheads select William Gonthier defenceman 6-0, 173 from College Notre Dame.

The 2014 QMJHL Entry Draft is now wrapped up. That was fun!
The best of luck to all of the prospects selected today, especially the players the Mooseheads selected. It should be interesting to see how these players develop.

This may be a stupid question, but can anyone here compare the QMEAA to the QMAAA? Just not sure what the QMEAA is. I believe QMEAA is Quebec Midget Espior double a. It's a feeder league for QMAAA.

Halifax has a few decent picks, but I don't think their draft went the way they hoped. Missed on the goalie they thought they'd get, also missed on the player they really wanted at #21. Also heard they had a better trade for Ryan that fell apart. I don't know much about Marino, but when you draft an American with your 2nd pick, you'd think he'd be a lock to show up and if so, a lock to make the team. Dachyshyn was a good pick for the end of the 3rd round. Morgan Nauss is a high risk, high reward type pick. Could be one of those smaller defencemen who put up big offensive numbers from the blueline.

It's not too often a guy like Fucale can come in and play every day at 16. It would have been nice to get a 16yo this year, and give him a year to get used to the league... perhaps call him up after Christmas. The Moose didn't think it was necessary to trade up into the 2nd round, so obviously they have a plan. The whole draft seems underwhelming. To be honest, the last three drafts have been underwhelming. But we didn't think Shewfelt would make the team last year, so hopefully a few of these picks can play right away and chip in. I guess Crossley and (if he reports) Marino have the best chance. I guess Dachyshun has a shot to. I've only heard encouraging things about him.

Stupid question: Why would Rimouski pass on their 14th round pick? Would it have put them above their 50 man roster limit? Jacques was the last selection in the 14th round last year and we actually used him.

I guess Crossley and (if he reports) Marino have the best chance. I guess Dachyshun has a shot to. I've only heard encouraging things about him. They dont have their goaltender right now, but stop-gap goalies are cheap and easy to come by. Anthony Terenzio as an example passed though waivers in the Q at one time. They got Chris Clarke off waivers. Last trade period Lagace moved for a 9th. Fortin for an 8th. Not the end of the world. If they do become sellers in december, they may find a goalie prospect in a trade. Maybe get a higher end guy (17 or 18 year old) as future considerations and not need the prospect for another year or two. Right now they have Fucale for sure until January (december I guess). If they do sell in december, you maybe dont want that great of a goalie for the 2nd half, and get as bad as possible. As far as the other post you made re: Marcotte for two 2nds. Rumor is there are futures tied to the 2nds, so it makes it tough to compare the value until the deal is completed. I really hope its Karabacek to VDO just for the silliness of it all. Charlottetown trades Marcotte in hindsight looks like a terrible move. Then VDO deals Marcotte for Karabacek, the player that should be playing for Charlottetown.

Definitely sounded disappointed. You could tell he was pissed that they didn't get the players they really wanted, but did get a couple they were high on. It sounds like the 2 Americans will at least be at camp, but who knows.
