This is just me personally, but I would not have cut Lyle first cut. Now let me say that going into camp I never expected him to make this team, however, cutting a player who has been with the club for two seasons in the first cut is a little iffy for me. I think they should have at least kept him and let him play tonight then cut him in the second cuts, not the first. It's not like he was having a terrible training camp or anything, it's just a numbers game.
Guess they didn't want to give Muise a shot at the back up position, although his play against the Seadogs may have had something to do with that.

Todays game is essentially the end of their training camp so they should cut someone like Lyle if he is not in their plans as someone else can get to play today and make an impression. They said almost immediately that Muise needs to get more minutes at a lower level so his being cut was expected.

Is today not the end of the trading period as well as the day all teams have to decide on the Quebec kids for the education program?

Is today not the end of the trading period as well as the day all teams have to decide on the Quebec kids for the education program? I think trading deadline is today, hard to find on the league site I was just looking that up. I think that Quebec deadline is today for the kids out of high school and going to cegep. Would not apply to the 16 year olds. I think I heard that. Will be interesting to see who sticks from the 16 year olds. Before camp I would have said only Dubois. Now it looks like you may have one defenseman and another forward or two.

Pretty good exhibition tilt this afternoon, Eagles over Halifax 4-3. For the Eagles, Ithought Martineau and Beaudoin contineud there good play, also Colby Tower picked up the pace today. Baillergon on defence looked totally out of place, he is a big disappointement at camp this year. For Halifax, I thought tough guy Brandon Vuic looked really sharp, skating has improved very much.Hopint to see final lineup sometime later this evening.

Was at Boston Pizza this evening after the game and Dumont and Assistants were there, had clip boards and paperwork. Assuming going over the roster? Also hearing Martineau has a good shot at cracking the lineup.

Also hearing Martineau has a good shot at cracking the lineup. Martineau should have an extremely good chance at making the lineup. Wins faceoffs, finishes his hits, can skate and has put up goals and points in games. Reminds me of Farrell only more physical.

If Jacob Smith wasn;t 19.........would he have a very good chance to make the Team ? He is making them think twice I bet ! Martineau , Dubois , Proulx , L'atalien , Boucher ......tougher decisions than I first thought they would have .

However, he does have some experience in the OHL and could add a vet presences on our 4th line. I like Boucher over Proulx. Proulx isn't afraid to drop the gloves, but I don't think Boucher would have a problem with it either. Martineau in mind is turning some heads big time. Dubois, L'Italien and Caza are also having great camps. It's certainly going to be a tough few cuts.

Pretty good looking roster, just a couple of surprises, IMO.Surprised to see eight defencemen as opposed to seven, also I thought Caza would have been there.Good luck to the boys in Russia.
