I think trading Fucale/Murphy, baring any other significant trades, Keeps Halifax from taking a step backward next year. It will not improve the team just make up for the loses that do occur to the lineup. That being the 3 20s and 19s that will move on due to too many and not good enough. Ehlers gone as well. If Ehlers comes back, which I am not counting on, its a different story. Moose have to use their first pick for import just in case. That would get trade return on either Ehlers or Meiers. Trading Ehlers this year and a couple others could speed everything up a year. I don't think it speeds things up as much as you think. I don't think anyone is willing to pay what Ehlers is worth. Rumor is Gatineau is going to swap Karabacek and Alain for Barbashev. Doesn't exactly knock my socks off. Ehlers is a Euro, for which there is a limited market and a player has to be dropped to add him.

Would Gatineau add a first to that, probably. You can trade Karabeck to draft another for free. Ehlers gone for nothing is nothing. Of course you want a clause if he returns. I believe he stays anyways. Chicoutimi, injury has room as well as Moncton if they dont get him from Gatineau.

Moncton might have asked for him to sit out until the draft. Haven't you heard? The trade is over. Shannon realized he was getting owned. That wasn't part of the Catch Ev deal?

Looks like Booth to get the start against the Oceanic. Palov tweeted Booth isn't being traded

Although I did wonder if they had just planned on burying Resop as a backup the next few years - he seems good enough to become a good starter but that's with limited viewings. Maybe they are sticking with him? No idea how Quebec could pull this off, this early in the trade period, without him involved. Unless Cam truly saw only 1 offer out there for Fucale and wanted to do the guy a favor and send him to a team like Quebec, hosting the Cup - and took a fairly mediocre return.

If trade does not take place until after WJC, no reason why Booth would sit tonight with Remparts playing Division rival Oceanic

Murphy deal is something different. Although I got the feeling that both deals were being announced tomorrow.

Maybe Brassard now and Booth draft because of NTC. Booth backup for Fucale. Or not lol

If the purpose of the trades us to build for the future, why would we want Brassard?

If the purpose of the trades us to build for the future, why would we want Brassard? Quebec would need to move him (keeping Booth) and we could use an experienced guy the rest of the way. Perhaps he comes back as a 20 too to keep the goaltending steady next year. The 2016 1st is still a huge asset, so hopefully that is still in these deals. We also need defense. I can't imagine they will want to go with this crew the rest of the way. Then again, the experience, and sliding in the standings, in invaluable

Wow Moncton down 5-2, and rattle off 8 straight goals against CB to win 10-5.
They are 22-10 now and still scoring lots of goals - must be tough for Irving and Co to be selling, as they are rumoured to be doing. I know they have many holes, but how can you not put them in the conversation right now?

If Booth isn't in the deal I don't see how Halifax comes out of this with a good return, given what Quebec has left.
As far as Ehlers goes, if he's back next year, he'll be dealt then. Fully expect Halifax to use their import pick on a 17 year old.
