Where's that facepalm emoticon when you need it... linkCorrection: That would be considered an eye roll.

As I read that article, it literally read like an Onion article.
Can't believe CBC actually published it.

That article did exaggerate ... but there was too much crap in that game after CB got embarassed. I felt that Refs did not clamp down on it when it was obvious that CB was starting to grease it up.
I felt that Farrell's spear should have resulted in a suspension ... he speared Garland in the face. In no way should that have been anything but a match. They gave 4:00 for spearing ... which means they saw it. That was the moment was when the clamp down should have happened ... and the moment the game got away from the Refs.
But ... the article say this was a parent of ringuette players ... and this not ringuette. It is a physical game ... emotions get high ... shit happens that are against the rules and they are penalized.
But ... in this age of backlash against bullying in everyday life ... why do we encourage it in hockey ?

Agree, that game was a tad greasy all due to CB losing control of the game and themselves. However I do personally take exception to that CBC article being an 11 yr. season ticket holder. The piece, in my view, insinuates this type of “grease” is a common theme amongst the QMJHL. It isn’t and nowhere near it. Sure these junior level/age players of high talent/ caliber play on the edge (it’s required) but it isn’t a free for all. For a game example the other night against CB, there will be ten + other games that never go near that level where rivalries are more intense. That article is poorly researched as I see it.

Articles and letters to the editor like this are crap. You can take in a hockey game at any level or age past 10 or 11 and at some point there is an incident on the ice or in the crowd that someone can find repulsive. What I find dumb is that they take one game out of hundreds or thousands and don't look at the big picture. It's like saying that a citizen in Moncton shot 3 cops so everybody in Moncton has to be a lunatic.

You could have chosen 100 different analogies and I agree....the one you chose was a shitty choice IMO.

Sometimes a hockey game gets a little out of hand...it isn't a newsflash...its part of the game.
