Sharks trade Konrad Abeltshauser to St.Louis in exchange for a conditional 7th.

So right now, we're looking at something at something like...
Max Fortier - Danny Moynihan - Timo Meier Vince Watt - Otto Somppi - Ilya Putintsev Connor Moynihan - Brett Crossley - Andrew Shewfelt Arnaud Durandeau - Sam Leblanc - Jordan King
up front. Obviously that's going to look a bit different... depending on who shows up and who stays as a 20, and anyone who surprises at camp.

I think that'll be pretty accurate in terms of our top 12 forwards. Obvious darkhorses may include Barrett Dachyshyn if he reports, and Dominik Blain-Dupuis, who I believe was very close to making it last year. Unless Jordan King takes a good step forward, he might not find himself in the lineup on a regular basis.

However I went with that lineup; Consider it an occams razor deal... I think this makes the fewest assumptions.

Is Otto Somppi a Center or a Winger? They only have him listed as a forward. I hope he's a centre because that where we're thin there.

I can't see us keeping Leblanc over Kelly Bent.
Bent could be a useful player next year. He gets opponents off their game, displays exceptional work ethic and he has some offensive potential (although no finishing ability lol)
Leblanc was a serviceable 19 year old, but you don't keep guys like that at 20.

Sounds like Somppi is interested in coming. Does anyone remember any other Finns that have played in the Q and have been solid players?

Definitely not bare bones. A lot of youth, but they'll get valuable experience this year. Watt showed some good things in the playoffs, hopefully he can build on that. If he and Shewfelt, maybe Crossley, can find a bit of consistency offensively, this team could surprise a bit. Even a guy like Jordan King. Really didn't do a lot in his rookie year (wasn't really expected to), but who knows what he brings next year. In a rebuild, sometimes you get guys come out of nowhere if given the opportunity. I like the youth and potential of the rookies, and with Meier, Moynihan, Donahgey potentially to be dangled in trades and with 2 1st round picks already in the bag, I like the direction the team is headed.

This team isn't even that much worse than last season's, the division is stronger though.
