Is Otto Somppi a Center or a Winger? They only have him listed as a forward. I hope he's a centre because that where we're thin there. He is a left shooting center, according to a poster on HF boards. I went over there looking for this and I couldn't find that anywhere. Like I said I hope he is because the moose are so thin up the middle.

I'm surprised no one has said this yet but don't you guys think Halifax just hog tied themselves yesterday? I just don't see Meier sticking in the NHL this year with SJ. I'd be surprised if he even stays the 9 game mark. Which means the Moose can have 3 euros on their roster. The only one who can be traded is Meier with the new rules in place. So that right there takes the power away from the moose and gives it to the buyer. Which means his value just sunk. I think he went from a 3 asset guy to maybe 1.
On the other hand if we the 2nd euro doesn't show and we keep him our team looks good. I like the looks of the top 2 lines and our D is already looking solid. In net we are in a good place too. This team is actually not that bad at all.

I am still trying to figure out why we drafted Blichfeld. Obviously there is someone that Cam knows about that we don't. Maybe there is a deal for Meier. Maybe they are telling Blichfeld they want him to come next Season. There hasn't been any quotes from Blichfeld or even any significant news about Blichfeld. Cam says he talked to Somppi and he was happy. This will be an interesting situation to watch.

So once Meier comes back from San Jose, Halifax will have to make a decision on which 2 to keep, regardless if Blichfeld is here or not. Maybe Cam simply told Blichfeld he's being drafted as an insurance policy and if Meier comes back Cam is going to release him.

Since it is so dead here I thought I would mention the topic going on on the CB board. It has been reported that Bowers will not play for CB this year and will report to Waterloo in the USHL. No "official" word but some posts on other boards and tweets to that effect. I don't know what it would take to get him to Halifax, but I am sure it is something Russell will look at. Maybe Bowers is set on only playing for Saint John. Interesting turn of events.

let him play in the ushl and redraft him next year. You're kidding yourself if you don't think Saint John isn't going to go after him. We need to make a move for Bowers. As much as I know this is pointless wish-thinking, it's fun... So here's my imaginary scenario. To Val-d'Or Timo Meier To Halifax 2016 1st VAL Cole Rafuse then To Cape Breton 2016 1st VAL 2017 1st HAL 2016 3nd HAL Kevin Resop To Halifax Shane Bowers 5th 2016 CAP (because why not.)

Roughly, yes. I'm also attempting to take into consideration CB wants players that can help immediately.
Halifax doesn't have much CB would want, except for Fortier or Resop. The goalie situation in CB has been a mess and they don't have an experienced backup who can play if Belenger gets injured or falters.
I don't really want to give up Resop in a deal because i think he has the potential to be a solid starter. His flaws are coachable. Size and athletisism are not.

If they get greedy they get left holding the bag. I can't see SJ wanting to spend that type of price to get him. They are contending and will need their assets for veterans ... not 16 YO rookies.

Donaghy would surely interest Cape Breton.
