This was posted on the Sea Dogs board. John Moore @rinkrant Trusted source says Hockey Canada is reconsidering Joseph Veleno receiving "exceptional status." If this happens and Saint John selects him, any way the Moose move up to get Bowers? For the Moose this is bad news with the pick they have this year and extra picks next year. Paying to get Bowers now likely means cost of 2016 pick(s). Dont think that pays off this time. Yeah not overly happy about it, but thought it could be to the Mooseheads advantage if Bowers has the stance he won't play for Bathurst or Victo. Not sure if the Moose will be bad enough to get a top 3 pick next year, but from what I read there are some gems next year aside from Veleno.

Veleno stance would be the same next year, if rejected, as well. More chance with more picks in 2016 though even in trade. Next year Veleno pushes players down instead of this year where you know Halifax out of the top 4. Young probably aware of the possibility of exceptional status as he shopped for any 2 to 4 pick.

If by gems you mean the top 3-4 players it's close to the same - certainly so if Veleno goes in this year's draft

You are being very very close minded. If you have a chance to grab a guy who can be a top player in this league for a reasonable price why not do it. They did it with Drouin. Now Bowers isn't close to that skill set but I do think his skill set is similar to Duclair. So say you trade for the 4th pick with CB and give up the 7th and 2 3rds plus a player. You pick Bowers then Dachyshyn says I want to play with my team mate and reports too now. You then pick a Euro winger. The team looks to have a pretty good future line right there. This all depends on Veleno entering this draft. If he doesn't then stick to the game plan already in place but if things change why not look at it. Your whole basis here is on next years draft. Why not get a top one from this year and maybe next year too?

If Veleno is in, maybe D Antoine Crete-Belzile falls to the Mooseheads. He is supposed to be the top D available. Scoutman says "Smooth, super smart, makes everything look easy"
....or maybe not...if Bowers falls to CB then Crete-Belzile will go before #7.

They need help and some youth on the backend.

Don't forget Duschenes, Henely and Thompson will be 18 next season. The season after you're looking at 3 19 year olds. I'm not sure if you guys have good '98 prospects on the blueline, but time moves fast in the Q. But I do think the Islanders are just as likely to take a forward, or a goalie even. I don't think the Islanders have a particular area of glaring weakness that needs to be addressed, as such they're in a position to draft the best player available.

IF Veleno can get the status of "exceptional, then he is picked by SJ.
There is no doubt in my mind that the Titan will pick the next better player who is Comtois or Bowers.
According to all reports, Comtois would report to Bathurst.
IF Comtois is the first pick, Bowers gets picked by the Titan. I simply don't see how the Titan would be unable to pick Bowers and to get him to report. Education would be a lame excuse and NCAA would delay his development.
If Halifax fans dream of another MacKinnon case, this one is far from the same scenario.

If Halifax fans dream of another MacKinnon case, this one is far from the same scenario. Typical. 'I don't see how a player won't report here' Then lists the reasons why and says they don't matter. How the fuck is education a lame excuse for a teenager? What proof is there that NCAA delays the development of exceptional players? You say this after Jack Eichel proved both wrong, you do know that, right?

But I suppose it's that time of the summer for you to come out and parade your bias, arrogance and ignorance around, before disappearing after every prophetic prediction you make has failed by early November, at which point you'll go into hiding and never have to say "oops, guess I was wrong" Remember how ridiculous it was for me to claim the Titan would miss the playoffs? REMEMBER THAT ONE? Yea. Ridiculous.

Education is a top priority in Bathurst and their program is simply as good as anybody's in the Q. By claiming Bathurst has as good a chance as any team in the Maritimes to have Bowers to report is NOT showing arrogance. Things are changing fast over here and it takes time for some to take notice.

You've been telling us how things have been changing for a decade now. Meanwhile your crowds are at league lows and it sounds like even the janitor might own a share or 2 of the team with the way some of you go on about getting inside info from the many owners. Good luck matching up your Euros to those Moncton and SJ will bring in or what Halifax and CB already have. You do realize thats the measuring stick right? Not your past failed Euros.

Rattle off some made up trade when we all know other teams are clearly in the mix. Now dont ask me what it would take to get that pick, even IF he fell to 4, because I dont know the offers like you apparently do but its going to be more than a couple 3rds and some imaginary player that has no value to the team. Never mind the fact CB needs a couple more 3rds.
