Native
adjective 1. being the place or environment in which a person was born or a thing came into being:
Yes. That's what he means. Basic English comprehension would suggest he means players native to the island. *facepalm*
While I'm at it:
Cole Reginato is from Albert Ridge, NS.
The closest after that are Delcan Smith and Colby Tower, both from Antigonish. Dilon Boucher is from Halifax.

Do you think the Eagles might try and pick up the Moynihan brothers. Connor looked good in the game in North sydney.

See...but growing up here would lead me to believe it's obvious he means native as in native american/canadian. My comprehension of how Cape Bretoners refer to themselves tells me that when they say 'locals' they mean Cape Bretoners and when they say 'natives' they mean native to one of the numerous reservations on the Island. Basic English comprehension doesn't do much for regional/local slang and dialect. It's really up to the poster to clarify what he meant, not the dictionary. As it's impossible to know what group of people he was trying to refer to, especially around here where so many people are interested in the plight of both the locals and the natives even though natives are local and the dictionary says locals are natives.

That was what I was thinking too. That is what is implied when I here the term around here.

I was just referencing the final roster, but I thank you for the correction.
Also apparently I'm the only one who saw no racial connotations in that post... not sure if sorry?

In any context the question was just dumb regardless. Find your own answers sometimes. This would have been as simple as pulling up the team roster on the Q website and checking the listed hometowns of everyone. It's not like it was some hard obscure question that in order to avoid hours of searching you ask and hope some old school poster like Deer pops up with the answer.
Plus don't we all just want to see the best team possible? I could care less if the team I cheer for has locals on it, or First Nations, etc etc. Just get the 20+ best hockey players of any race/region and start winning.

What a goal by Dubois. What a player he is going to be for us this year.
