Our neighbourhood homer, Neil Hodge, has the Wildcats finishing 2nd in the Maritimes Division. The guy is afraid to put his honest opinion in writing. You clearly don't get marketing. If your own newspaper says you're going to lose, that's not gonna sell tickets for the wildcats. They want the fans believing in them that they will win every game. Winning = Ticket Sales. (Majority of the time) lol. I know the Cats and paper are both Irving owned, but this year it's way over the top. A buddy of mine who never even goes to games asked my why the Transcript/Wildcats are so obsessed with those Klimas. The sad thing is, if they play well and put up 40-50 points, most fans will be disappointed due to all the cheap hype.

Just like the newspaper writing articles ... and making mention of the Klimas in many articles since the beginning of August(the articles aren't all about the Klimas) ... it seems that just about every post you write also mentions the Klimas. But you choose to take a negative approach about it. You take a negative approach about everything. Nothing is ever good around the Wildcats ... at least nothing you have ever written about in the last 3 or 4 years. You only post here to take shots at the team/Shannon ... and never praise anything they do nor do you praise when they play well. You never mention a big win or a strong showing ... just the negatives that you see. Have you said anything positive about the Klimas yet ? Conor Garland wins a scoring championship ... will probably become the all-time leading scorer for the Wildcats ... and all you ever say about him is his shifts are too long. So now you are on the Klimas ... or actually you are on the Wildcats for promoting the Klimas. They did well in the pre-season but that is just pre-season (I agree) against weak or mixed lineups. I am taking a wait and see attitude because I only went to one scrimmage ... no pre-season games ... and have only watched them play for one hour on the first day of camp. I don't care so much that the Wildcats are promoting them ... it doesn't bother me ... doesn't affect me in the least. I don't let anything Hodge writes actually bother me because I figured out about 10 yeras ago that he is just a PR Rep for the Wildcats. Haven't you figured that out yet ? Why do you care so much ... you hate everything about this team so why do you care that Hodge mentions the Klimas every other day ? I don't understand you anymore ... everything is about the negative for you. You always say that you call a spade a spade but that doesn't mean that everything has to be negative. That means you give the good with the bad. So where is the good ? I know now you'll whine that I'm picking on you and you'll make a pretend positive post because that is your defense mechanism. But what is wrong with you ... is life no longer fun for you ... is your whole world so sad and depressing that you dwell on the negative all day and night ? If the Klimas actually work out and play as solid Top 6 forwards ... contributing to winning ... will you actually acknowledge that ... or will you just dwell on them being too small or something else you find to dislike ? Maybe they'll wear goofy helmets ... that would be good for a few hundred negative posts.

Others have posted about the constant hyping of the Klimas in the papers. Regardless of how they are/are not, it's a lack of respect for the fanbase(the regulars) and also the veteran players who get bumped down the lineup without having played a single meaningful game. You name Johnson captain and immediately bump him down a line in favor of two free agents, despite the fact he scored 24 goals in 46 games last year.

But how is saying that you think they'll finish better than 15th saying something positive ? And that thread isn't even on this board. Did you scour the Wildcat's board and come up empty ? Why would I rant about somebody else placing Moncton at 15th ... they aren't shitting on the team they cheer for on a daily basis. It is only you. If you shit on the team occasionally ... and praised the team and players for small and big successes just as often ... nobody would care. But all you do is shit on them ... and then want a pat on the back because you think they'll finish 4th in the division and better than 15th in the Q. Predictions are predictions ... not negative or positive ... just a guesstimate based on your view of the division and league. I don't view that as being negative or positive. I don't take issue with you saying they'll finish 4th ... it very well could happen. The whole 1st 2nd 3rd line issue is pointless. Johnson and Smith and whomever they place on that line with them will be playing against all the top lines in the Q ... which will add up to a ton of ice time. Our top offensive line will play a ton also. Our 2nd offensive line will play less than the Garland line and less than the Johnson line. Johnson will score goals and his line may score more than our 2nd offensive line ... he may come close to 40 goals ... or maybe just over 20 like last year. Johnson will get a pile of PK time and maybe PP time. The Johnson line may play more minutes in a game than Garland's line mates (he'll stay out for 2 shifts so he'll have more minutes ... you'll tell us every night). You are getting caught up in labels and the words "Top six forwards". In the playoffs last year, Burke's line had more minutes than anybody ... because Dauphin and Ehlers played every other shift ... Johnson still managed to score. You beat things to death just to shit on Shannon. You beat the Hrivk thing to death ... you beat the Russian goaltender in the dispersal draft to death ... you will continue to harp on Garland's shift length ... you'll continue to harp on the Klimas if they don't meet the hype, but won't say a thing if they do impress. If you would just say your piece ... negative or positive ... just once or maybe twice ... then that would be fine. But you'll post negatively on this issue into the hundreds of times, saying the same thing over and over. How monotonous can you get ? I probably sound monotonous for calling you on it over and over ... and apologize to everybody else for that. You are never monotonous on your positive posts ... they are so few and far between that it is hard to find even one. You weren't able to find any. I predict that your next whipping boy will be Weiderer ... hasn't done much yet ... and of course Shannon for picking him. It will probably be deserved if he doesn't pan out ... but you'll mention it nothing short of 100 times. I think Shannon's job is actually on the line this year because of how our draft has gone and players that reported or stayed away ... but thats for another discussion. If negativity is justified toward him ... thats fair. I don't know how anybody can be a fan of a team and do nothing but shit on them daily ... that is a sad existence.

It's funny that you have crapped on Bathurst on their board for 10 years for doing the exact same thing. I don't recall you going on a big rant about how you prefer to always be mid pack over winning titles in 2006 and 2010. Have your views suddenly changed or do you lack the balls to post them?

Either you don't see anything good at all ... or you just can't bring yourself to comment positively on it. I have no problem with anybody speaking negatively of the Wildcats on here ... we all know that things aren't perfect and we scratch our heads at many of the decisions. But it is a two-sided coin ... bring the bad with the good. Is there even one player on Moncton that you think is going to be great this year ? I don't see how Bathurst relates. Bathurst doesn't draw 4400 a night ... they need to do things differently than other more financially successful teams do. They need to stick to having a good team every year instead of trying to hit homeruns ... their small fanbase can't handle the down years. But Bathurst isn't my team ... so if I go on their board and crap on the way they run things ... thats because I am a rival. You crap on your own team constantly ... and that is all you do here ... crap ... that is senseless. Please change your name to Captain Negative ... and then we'd at least understand where it comes from.

I don't want to start a new thread but in today's paper it seems Shannon is not happy with teams like Bathurst, Halifax, Shawinigan and now Baie Comeau (traded with Shaw for a goalie). He seems to think they are sneaking in euros through the back door since there is no rule that defines how long someone has to play in NA or what is required to be eligible for the draft. I don't blame him actually, especially when you look at Shaw getting Yan through the Euro draft (he was born and played his hockey in the U.S., but outside the Q territory) but can pick up Denisov (a goalie no less) who was born and played most of his hockey in Russia.
They definitely need to clarify the rule with regard to what classifies a player as a euro or eligible for the draft/FA.

The clarification should be across the CHL so all the leagues are on the same page.

He has a point about the rule needing to be clarified, but it also comes across as sour grapes ... If, as he claims, there are so many talented euros playing in New England leagues, what stops him from signing some of them for the Cats?

He is right in that there is this grey area of confusion that the teams never seem to be informed of beforehand. The league should be clarifying the eligibility of all these players well ahead of the midget draft. It is really not that difficult.

Honestly I thought there was a rule specifying how long a Euro playing in the States had to have played there to be eligible for the Q league draft. Putintsev played down there long enough so he was put on the Q list to be drafted so the Mooseheads traded up to get him... at the time it was presumed on the Moose board it was to make sure that we got him before Moncton did.

The league does put out a list of players eligible for the draft each year prior to it ... as I understand, a player has to be on the list, or he is not draft eligible ... players on the list are primarily determined by CSR, however there is a section called "players added by teams" ... Both Denisov and Putintsev were on that section of the list prior to the 2015 draft - so no team can claim they were not aware that they were eligible.

The league does put out a list of players eligible for the draft each year prior to it ... as I understand, a player has to be on the list, or he is not draft eligible ... players on the list are primarily determined by CSR, however there is a section called "players added by teams" ... Well then if a team knows by say June 1 that a Yan is in the Euro draft and Denisov is a North American then you cant really have much to complain about. I dont see how 1 team can conspire to get an advantage using those players when they are being drafted outside the top few picks. Its not like everyone thought Denisov was a Euro and Shawinigan pulled a fast one. I would say what is worse is drafting a lot of Americans and using financial resources to get them to commit. No teams would do that though
