Unfortunately James was released by the Columbus Blue Jackets after attending their Camp on a PTO . What's next for Sheppard ? AHL with hopes of a 2 way contract ? Europe ? Always gonna wonder "what if" when it comes to old # 15 .

AHL for this season might be his best bet.
Due to the cap teams always need depth through the season and he may earn himself a job down the stretch in the right organization.

I often wonder how things could have been different for him and also for that surprise 2007/08 Eagles team if Minnesota didn't make the idiotic decision to keep him in the NHL.

Things might well have been different for the Eagles that year but blaming his inability to play as an NHL regular now for what 4-5 teams on Minnesota is shifting the onus from the player...... he was a bad pick who became a bad pro... period
